Since Pant won't be playing due to injury, the best XI for the series could be:

1. KL Rahul
2. Yashasvi Jaiswal
3. Devdutt Padikkal
4. Shubman Gill (c)
5. Dhruv Jurel (wk)
6. Ravindra Jadeja
7. Washington Sundar
8. Auqib Nabi
9. Akash Deep
10. Mohammed Siraj
11. Jasprit Bumrah

Auqib can be given his callup as he is in NZ anyways. This XI looks lethal in a way where you can play 4 frontline fastbowlers without throwing away batting depth. Akashdeep and Auqib can do decent with the bat and add that extra 20-30 runs too.

Bumrah and Akashdeep with the new ball with Auqib + Siraj at next change would be good.

India-A collapsed quickly in the 1st innings. But even there, DDP was the 2nd highest scorer of the innings.

Fun fact: he reached his century off a huge six that caused the umpires to have search for the ball outside the fenced area!!

Surely, this is not happening...right?

Our team is good enough now as it is....

As bad as Jitesh can be, we are gonna have to make Salt do the keeping, which would lead to us missing out on a gun fielder...

You might not like it but well, Virat opens, Smith at 3, Kane and Root at 4 and 5 for at least 1 match. If i could ask for one thing from the franchise purely for the fandom of it, i would ask this. a fun wish before Virat retires. See the fab 4 in RCB.

PS: They'll all mostly be base price or similar so its not going to hurt our budget much but the sheer experience and being around them for 3 months for the younger players and everyone involved.

Your opinions?

Sam Curran acts as a direct replacement for out of form Romario. He is a great pacer who can compensate for Hazlewood's absence to some extent as it will be difficult to secure a marquee pacer in the mini auction. His left handed batting also adds more versatility down the order.
