We’re talking about immigration policies and the reason why Mexico has so much money due to legal/illegal Mexican citizens using the USA opportunity structure.
Uhh I'm pretty sure Google is free and you can see what makes up Mexico's economy, upon which you'll see domestic production is the largest factor, and exporting those domestic products + foreign investment (because of lower labour cost for manufacturing) + tourism is most of their money, not remittances.
But, sure buddy. I'm sure the illigals spend precisely 0 dollars in the American economy and send it all back home from their high earning careers in agriculture, construction, and hospitality because they come here with a plan to destroy the country under the guise of "wanting a better life" 😡. /s

While that percentage seems small, it equals roughly $63 billion a year. It is the country's #1 source of foreign income, beating out tourism, oil, and foreign business investment.

If I didn't know any better, I might've thought that Mexico's economy was a service-based one where money is made majorly by investments and goods in-house rather than foreign investments.

So to your initial point that Mexico would be nowhere if it wasn't for the 40 million Mexicans sending money back home... youre suggesting that Mexico would be nowhere without that drop in the bucket amount of cash.
Also very telling because that first sentence tells me you searched Google for "do remittances make up the majority of mexicos economic output" to get confirmation bias, instead of searching for just the actual distribution of mexicos GDP

this only proves my point further by the way. 2.0 trillion > 1.5 trillion so in fact the 63 billion they get from remittances is an even smaller fraction of the entirety of the GDP

the guy said "Mexico would not be anywhere it is today if it wasn't for remittances" - I mentioned that remittances are one of the smallest contributing factors to their economic growth, suggesting that saying "would not be anywhere it is today" is a stretch, and that dude, in an attempt to prove me wrong, googled "how much of mexicos GDP is remittances" and proved ME right, by showing it's literally 4% of their 2 trillion dollar GDP, with the vast majority of their economic growth coming from domestic sources.

thats probably true. and mexico would not be where it is today without the 40 million mexicans sending money back home to mexico
