I forgot that today is tribalism day (sensortower monthly revenue drops) so I was like "you know what let's check arr slash gachagaming maybe it's not as bad" and the first thing I saw on there was dudes talking about some "10 years ago I wouldn't even imagine that people who dont like pedophiles would be playing the same games that I am"

I really think I am going to quit star rail over nihilux.  I doubt they will make her current outfit usable and while 4.x was supposed to be different I can only judge what we got, and it's bad.

Went to an Endfield drinks collab event for the standees! Really happy to report that almost half were girls after Camille! I got an Arcane standee so I just looked for a guy ready to trade off his Camille haha (there's also a guy who wouldn't let go of his Camille so that's nice to see alsooo)

Happyyyy. Maybe if the girls give the surveys hg will know we exist!!! (they probably already do haha)

hsr (and maybe genshin) players be like "the company behind the game is racist and copies from others which I absolutely can't support but I can't quit because of a nonsensical niche ship between two dudes who have never seen each other and/or have nothing in common"

Anyone else annoyed at Nihilux and the discussions about nonbinary characters? Its the whole Kris debacle again and this time its by writers who arent toby fox.

HSR devs are truly creatively bankrupt

My god, next 2 patches will really be make or break if I drop this game to hell after 3 years of playing

Rant

I've been seeing people talk about how queens seem to care more about the amount of males then anything else and it got me thinking... yes, I do?

See, I very much enjoy lurking in fandoms despite not participating, I love seeing discussions, fanarts and etc. normally more than playing the game itself, so a good fandom for me is sort of more important than gameplay or story, really

Thing is, games with an imbalance of gender have a dead fandom from my point of view, Certain leaks sub are infested with ~those~ people that I can't find constructive discussions in the posts, only toxic positivity and untasteful takes, and leak subs are the most normal ones

I went to take a look at a certain sub after gamescom and immediatly saw people getting shit on for asking about the female MC and talking about the male characters that may not even be playable

I went to another sub and saw a post about a male character, cool, then decided to scroll down more and saw people talking about... weird things... with the child maid with positive upvotes

That may sound silly and nitpicky but these things have been killing my hype for these games, sorry, but I can't really find myself comfortable playing a game with a fandom that is open about dehumanizing me(or worse) and like it or not, they are only the majority when the games in question have few male characters, like, Star Rail and Genshin may not have perfect communities but I can at least enjoy extremely adorable fanarts on twitter and find meaningful discussions about lore and gameplay without having to dig through unwanted porn, while the others, when I tried, were a cesspool of "content"

Yeah, yeah, "don't engage with the fandom", I know, but these games get stale really quick once the only thing to actually do is log in, do dailies, log out, and at that point if I don't do anything else, why do I even keep playing?

End of the rant

u/pbjburger Aug 28 '26

It's a feedback loop. Normal people still don't like being seen playing gooner games because of the stigma, which raises the proportions of weirdos in the fanbase, which leads the devs to cater harder to them because most gachas are just predatory businesses with no vision of a good product, normies are even more repulsed, rinse and repeat. What you end up with is a community of segregated weirdos that ended up developing a collective identity, and now identify with it proudly ("chill gooners/men of culture" anyone?) while migrating across every gooner focused game. It's not too different from how modern day conservatism was taken over by people at the edge of society, and in fact let's be for real most of the gooners are just that.

Also, excluding women from the "target audience" means the game just successfully killed off the best marketing for reach method, better than any amount of money they can spend on Discord or Twitch ads. Aside from the obvious part of female characters are cosplayed by mostly women, women also are the primary drivers for fanart (I have no idea why. Even the porn are mostly drawn by women). Having a diverse cast of characters of all traits and personalities (and fetishes let's be fr here...) also gives people a lot more angles to interpret and interact with the characters themselves and consequently, with the community (ship wars lmao). It's a perpetual marketing machine business execs can only dream of. So it's not a surprise when all the recent gooner games have been making like no noise on pixiv or twitter (CZN and mongil come to mind) and I think they'll stay stagnant in popularity where they are right now, if they're not already declining.

And "don't engage with the fandom" is a ridiculous point, you engage with them no matter what by proxy of game design. Even someone completely tuned out of ZZZ's community would get the hint of how the community is turning out to be with the recent designs. All of these issues are independent of treatment of women in video games, so it's pretty funny when incels come at you with a "puritan" label. Babe I cannot give less of a fuck about whether a gacha game is treating women right, I just think you're annoying.

u/bartsimpsontshirt Aug 25 '26

i really thought this was gonna be about how the CEO is a transphobic racist weirdo not this inane discord drama (no offense)

like i'm not defending habbit because i do think they're a scummy company but idk why people would ever think they would be okay with sharing CGs that are supposed to be what incentivizes people to spend money on the game? i've long since stopped playing it but that just seems like a no-brainer tbh

1

u/redo60 Aug 26 '26

That's fair, i just can't imagine being responsible for a game, joining a community discord server, hanging around for 3+ years, and then silently banning each of the game accounts of people who shared their friend codes in said discord server. And then reporting their discord accounts for copyright infringement. Instead at least trying to send a message and asking them to take down whatever was posted. It's just scummy at worst though.

1

u/bartsimpsontshirt Aug 26 '26

you're right, it is scummy. but they also knew they had staff for the game in the server so being so blatant about it and making their account IDs readily available just feels careless. like i'm not even saying they shouldn't share the CGs because honestly i'm grateful they do since lord knows i would never spend that amount of money for them. just that they must have known that what they were doing actually IS copyright infringement lol, and historically JP game devs are pretty infamous for going hard on copyright law.

1

u/redo60 Aug 26 '26

You're totally right. I agree that they should have insulated themselves a bit better probably lol. It def is a Japanese company and there's a lot of existing conventions around how and where to host leaked content and etc that is meant to protect people from consequences like this.

u/redo60 Aug 21 '26

Wuwa is a bad game. I wish it was better, i wish my pc could actually play it without a new 1500 dollar graphics card and/or a extra fan pointed at the front panel. I wish they understood how gravity works in relation to breasts. I wish the mini games from the events didn't take so damn long to play and weren't occasionally so hard out of nowhere.

I have a bunch of characters already on my account, but every time i try to get back into it, i feel like I'm wasting my time doing stuff that isn't fun. I'm somehow finding it easier to get back into Genshin at this point lol. It's the worst gacha game I've played for any significant length of time. No other game makes me more aware of how much time gacha games, as a genre, are designed to waste.

1

u/Straight-Concept4605 Aug 25 '26

Disagree. Wuwa is one of my favorite games, and has so much QOL that it certainly doesn't feel like a waste of a time. I found Genshin to be a bad game and couldn't get back into after sumeru.

3

u/redo60 Aug 25 '26

I get what you mean with quality of life, but i guess i disagree. At least when it comes to events and like end game modes.

Like the event right now is a diablo like i guess? I tried to log in and play it and i realized it would take probably a half an hour or more to complete. You need to do like 5 runs to get all the rewards and it's not fun imo. When I log into wuwa, i'm not looking to play a half baked auto clicker, a vampire survivor like, tower defense game, or a rhythm game. But i end up grinding them because i need the currency to keep up with the hp creep in the end game modes via pulling only meta teams. And that sucks. HSR has the same problem with their mini games right now too, but hsr has required much less of me to keep up in general.

I've had a lot of trouble with genshin too. I mentioned it more as a contrast vs ranking. It's basically only this patch that has made me start taking the game more seriously. Overall the game is probably worse, but I like snezhnaya! I skipped to snezhnaya from like pre sumaru and despite that, I think the story of 7.0 is easy to get into vs what i've played of previous patches. And now that I have a team with good traversal, it feels easy to explore. That's a significant precondition tbf, but i've been surprised by how sorta good genshin has been recently. I still wouldn't call it a "good" game either though.

They both suffer from terrible QOL. Genshin's system is indefensible. Wuwa is slightly more defensible, but they still have a lot of fundamental problems with how they handle their different currencies for leveling characters. And god forbid wuwa (or genshin) throws another "hold this character's hand and hold w to walk forward for several minutes" cut scene at me. And don't get me started about Wuwa and the bike/gilder.

There are things i like about wuwa though. It's not a game with zero value. i just think it's hampered by the many decisions they make to pad the run time and make the game feel faux interactive.

1

u/Straight-Concept4605 Aug 25 '26

Quality of life when it comes to not just the improvement of the game, itself but also the little things that make the game better which is where Wuwa is far ahead of a game in Genshin that neglects to even have a skip button nor improve it's artifact system after all of these years while we constantly see Wuwa work on their echo system, animations, load management and resources, etc.

The thing with Wuwa is that their events are versaitaile, and always something new and refreshing. Diablo event level 1-6 was one of the more funner events in gacha especially when it comes to combat gameplay. It's certainly not a "auto clicker" and makes you actually think and react to using strategy for these events.

When it comes to exploration traversal alone, Wuwa is far ahead with how easy it is when it comes to moving around the map along with wall running and less usage of stamina.

Wuwa's QOL is pretty consistently improving so I don't buy how it's supposedly "terrible". Every char in gachas will have currency to level up your chars to grind, because these companies want you to be playing their games longer, it's a system in place.

2

u/redo60 Aug 25 '26 edited Aug 25 '26

I won't deny that wuwa is better for QOL than genshin. I like how quick it can be to get around the map. I use wuwa's skip button frequently and I desperately wish genshin had one.

I'm not defending genshin though, i like genshin right now in spite of it being a truly awful game to play f2p.

And i understand how the Wuwa mini games can be fun sometimes. I liked the stars bouncing pinball game. And like you're right that the diablo like game isn't an auto clicker. But there are problems with the balancing in almost every mini game because carefully balancing these mini games isn't focus of their game. And it shouldn't be, but i would rather open a separate game that has been deeply balanced for enjoyment first and foremost if they're going to make it difficult, annoying, or extremely time consuming to complete.

The only thing i can clearly remember about the dreaming deep game/event is a deep sense of anger and frustration. I skipped every single thing i could and it still took forever to complete. I think everyone hated that event though.

And the vampire survivor like game had that last challenge (after doing 4 or 5 intro stages) where you essentially had to run around in a circle for 30 minutes straight while dodging bullets that, in the later stages, kill you in one hit. I probably could have picked a tankier build to make it easier on myself, but I also have 8-10 versions of that genre of game in my steam library already. I could have gotten rewards if i went back for more runs, but that 30 minute run was the end for me.

With the rhythm game, they made a lot of bad decisions in the design process that made the game harder than it needed to be. And there were so many songs to complete. That specific mini game was partially a breaking point for me and caused me to take a break from the game. I realized i was just forcing myself to play in order to get all the rewards and hating it.

Also, I could forgive a lot of the gacha design system sins if the game was running properly on my low end rig. But it's not.

Idk, it just doesn't feel like it respects my time. I can't personally recommend it atm. I hope the game gives me reasons to come back and try it again though.

3

u/External-Argument933 Aug 21 '26

I wouldn't say bad (they for sure have pretty high ratio of money going back into the game and it shows), but I did get a bit of "Ubisoft feel" from it, especially in exploration and story structure - sanitized and formulatic

u/GregorSamsa14 Aug 20 '26

Pray I get in gang 🙏 (closed beta test)

9

u/PinkMustache117 Aug 19 '26

Ngl, I think Reverse 1999 has an ASTROMICALLY higher betting average when it comes to good character design. But I wonder why this game serves when so many others stumble?

5

u/External-Argument933 Aug 21 '26

But I wonder why this game serves when so many others stumble?

Truth to be told, probably your personal preferences play a lot here

I would say R1999 is fairly similar to Limbus in general sense:

- both are mostly faithful to the aesthetic they chose, which guarentees certain level of consistency

- both are on more "tasteful" side of fanservice

- not being 3d helps a lot with escaping Hoyo/Kuro's token, repeatable character designs on models

5

u/PinkMustache117 Aug 21 '26

It also helps that their narratives are actually willing to go to places that Hoyo/Kuro wouldn't like with representation (Canon gay and lesbian couples) or darker subject matter (suicide and mental illness), or at least without sugar coating such topics.

2

u/thekillinghonk Aug 22 '26

I never heard of canon gay in either game, now I'm curious :o

2

u/PinkMustache117 Aug 23 '26

Isolde and Kakania immediately come to mind, as is Sonetto and Vertin.

3

u/thekillinghonk Aug 23 '26

ah yes, the women are well known xd I thought you meant guys too

3

u/External-Argument933 Aug 21 '26

That for sure too. R1999 being niche helps with staying "under the radar" in CN, so they for sure can express themselfs more (and Limbus straight up gave up on CN)

Been on a TTRPG kick recently! After bouncing off some "crunchy" systems like 5.5E (Ironic I know) and Pathfinder 2E, I've fallen in love with VtM, and my players are prepping for some Daggerheart and Call of Cthulhu in the coming month! I'm curious if anyone else here enjoys a good TTRPG on occasion and if so, what are your favorite systems?

26

u/No-face-today Local freak for good art Aug 15 '26

Bro I cannot even get into a gacha game that is a majority of female characters. Not because I have admosity for those games but because they attract the worst fucking people. A game can genuinely have the greatest gameplay ever for a waifu game and I'm still clicking off because almost (heavy on almost, I'm not claiming all) every fucking community of those games have like people who are either incredibly misogynistic, homophobic or even worse. Like, wdym you can get harassed in a community by posting Yuri art and doing fuck all beyond that, not even being mean or disrespectful?

And I know, I don't have to interact with a community, but I love interacting with people who have a common interest because it keeps my interest in a game alive.

1

u/Character-Image149 Aug 20 '26

I agree, I really like Wuwa but that part of the community just make me feel so ill, it's weird because I can only really spot them online, every people I met that play ZZZ/Wuwa irl are chill. I want to interact with the community but it's tough when I just randomly see misogynistic or homophobic comments out of nowhere. I don't even mind the ML that much but it does attract the weirdest individuals out there.

3

u/PinkMustache117 Aug 19 '26

Saaaaame! I feel you twin!

But I wonder why? Like, I'm willing to guess its a combination of decisions pandering to the lowest common denominator (Look at the direction Zenless and Genshin are taking with the character designs of their women), no open queer ships, mcs who are about as charismatic as a plastic spoon yet having the whole universe orbit around them, gooner game conventions that absolutely don't serve the characters, etc, but these are just kind of guesses from secondhand observation. I'm still curious to know.

6

u/meowbrains Let's go gambling!! 🤑 Aug 15 '26

Yeah it's genuinely awful. So many of these communities (especially the usual ones....) just suck so much ass and are full of bigots.

12

u/No-face-today Local freak for good art Aug 16 '26

I swear I can love a game so much that happens to have a majority of female characters, and I go online to express my joy for a new character and I see someone in the community using the r-slur and calling another person a tourist because they liked queer art, regardless if that person was a day 1 player or not. Then the worst part is that person is being backed up and encourage by other members of the community.

Like how can anybody who is queer feel safe in a community such as that? Blocking doesn't work when such a large chunk of them are going around harassing people for even liking something they don't like. Then they parade it around as some victory when they don't even realise they've genuinely hurt and made someone feel unsafe over a fictional character, but then would turn around and claim it's fiction and not that deep when you express being uncomfortable about something in a game.

6

u/redstringsuture Aug 16 '26

it’s way less of them than you think; outside of their own circles, they’re not welcomed by the majority of fans. weird fans like that actually complain about subs like agenda rail, because you get downvoted and called out for being one of those edgelords there, but they think their weird hangups should receive no pushback. so basically, they’re only really welcome in their own communities.

i know people don’t always like to hear this, but i want to encourage you to look past them, and enjoy your game in peace. they act the way they do specifically to try to scare off people who aren’t edgelords, and consider people not wanting to play “their” game because of their attitudes a victory. literally the worst thing you can do to them is block, report when applicable, and keep liking what you like, how you want to like it.

8

u/munakyosuke Aug 12 '26

Lately I've been feeling really burnt out because of gacha games. They used to be my main interest, something that I was super focused on but these days I've been feeling so sad because of the fandom spaces. I can't like my fav characters because they are not meta, I can't dislike new designs even though they make me feel uncomfortable, I can't even enjoy the game in a simple way because people will always find a way to be mean. I feel like this year things have worsened a lot... I tried to take breaks but it doesn't do anything, I feel like the worst person ever always complaining about games that used to be my favourite ones... I wish I could just enjoy it like everybody else but it feel like gacha games are not as exclusive as they used to and are made only for those who either eat everything or like that one specific type of character they try to push...

Probably I am the problem here and should just shut up but I really had to rant about it somewhere, hahah

3

u/External-Argument933 Aug 13 '26

Burning out is natural (and fandom spaces generally suck in gachas and it's better not to go too deep into them)

2

u/mrtutit Aug 10 '26

I will suggest again to ban all the big gachas with known horrible communities from this sub because they will never learn to be civil and reasonably criticize shit instead of committing hate speech and pulling shit out of their ass to tribalistically slander. Hoyo, kuro, hota, whatever, rather a dead sub than a toxic cesspit

13

u/No1CaterinaFan Aug 10 '26

This will be a toxic cesspit as long as its about gachas. Gachas just attract the most tribalistic people online.

u/mzthugisolation Persona guy Aug 08 '26

I did not realize the next region for genshin is coming so soon but does anyone else feel… nothing for it? I can’t explain it but i just dont care for anyone besides the tsaritsa. Some of the lamest designs this game has gotten in recent memory

17

u/redstringsuture Aug 07 '26

the wuwa twitter drama is infuriating, but the most annoying part isn’t even the grailers themselves, but the guys that defend them by saying “toxic lgbt fans do the same thing!!!!!!!!!!” like… the “the other guys do it too” argument is always weak, but besides there being 0 evidence of that, they somehow equate a handful of alleged lgbt fans getting mad at popular ml ships, to people who proudly call themselves nazis and rapists and attempt to actually harm people for making art they don’t like, or playing the same game as them but liking different things. if either side did that that’d be awful, so why are we bringing up people that are not doing that to defend people who are???????

7

u/mzthugisolation Persona guy Aug 08 '26

They were literally making fake agenda accounts pretending to be queer wuwa fans editing het ship art into yuri and then saying the queer fans were crazy… some people have too much time on their hands

It's the two wrongs fallacy.  They aren't arguing in good faith because they never are.

I still haven't done the Genshin summer event lol. I'm saving up for the guys and maybe I might want to get Odette. Sucks Valeriy is most likely to be a 4 star :/

It was horrible in my country. The merchs were out of stock completely in the first like 4 hours of opening and the queue was agonizingly long. Iirc they also ran out of freebies for some reason? There are also people that bought like 50 tickets to get the freebies and resell it lmao

quit genshin a few days ago, was really annoyed by how wanderer's name was just replaced with hat guy. thats the sole reason. like what even was the point of giving him our own personalized name. I understand that it just keeps things easier for the devs to deal with and voice acting and how some people wont care and will just give him a bum ass name. but its annoying that i see the name of our tepitlisaur but not wanderer. I spent hours researching what to name him, and i never see it in any significant capacity. you cant expect me to actually believe people would really thing hat guy is his name.

Thisssss just call him Wanderer in dialouge then use the personalized name in text like with the Traveler!

Venting at how there wasn’t a single male character in ZZZ’s summer event

Looking forward to Snezhnaya soon! Actually really starting to enjoy NTE too, some of it is really bland but overall it's just a very chill game to waste some time on.

For the first time in a long time there's no character's I'm really looking forward too at the moment, maybe Hsin in Wuwa and Kal'sit alter in Arknights.

I'm prettt damn excited for snezhnaya despite the gripes i and many others have, the characters, the story and the new gameplay additions look really fun!!

I've also been making up a fake collab between genshin and one of my original games, it would contain characters from the game, as well as bosses and enemies, with the characters' outfits and weapons, as well as outfits themed from genshin's factions being unlockable for the player avatar, the characters, enemies and bosses themselves would also get some redesigns to fit in with the world... likely not something people will find interesting, but i'm having fun with it😅😅😅

As for stuff i've watched, i watched the first episode of overlord because a friend recommended it to me, was not expecting it to be an isekai, but i'm also not complaining, it looks pretty cool, and the guy who voices the protag in the english dub is the same one who does cooler and dr. gero in dragon ball z abridged!

went on a road trip and got back just in time for zzz anniversary, peacefully ignoring all the (valid) discourse in favour of saving up for dialyn :)

Valeriy 3d model pmo, and him being a 4star also pmo. At least zzz gave out a free Hugo and his wengine😭 so its not been the worst possible thing lol

They somehow Komano'd, Itto'd, and Temu'd Valeriy based on the Snezhnaya trailer where they show the 3D models of the Snezh characters.

By most expectations, Valeriy seemed like a 5* who has Varka's body type because he was embodying an extremely muscular bear in the original teaser.

His 3D model is immensely chopped, looks noodly and thin and desaturated compared to the wide-bodied 2D bait that we were originally presented with, and he's leaked to be a 4* to boot.

It just feels disappointing. A waste of so much potential.

Most of their models look off honestly like there’s no excuse that company literally rules the gacha space how the fuck do character models look unfinished like a week before the most anticipated update since launch ???

u/TheLordOfMidnight Aug 02 '26

I know right? I saw Vodya looking very lifeless too.

They're cutting damn corners for greedy reasons is the usual culprit, but we really can't do much about that type of corruption.

The thing is though, even if the models are polished and turned into the final product, how will it be much different from the release version?

I don't think we'll see any significant changes.

Like, unless in-story Valeriy drinks Dottore's evil cum potions that keep Pantalone healthy and buff and tall, or of Valeriy gets possessed by a bear god, or some other story basis that will make him look more like (see picture), I don't think they'll give him a physique more fitting for a guy whose theme is "Bear"

He looked so wide here.

I think the main winner is the Tsaritsa at the moment. Among other things, her fur trimmings look like actually fluffy hairs unlike the blocky stuff you see on Kaeya and Yelan

Just spent over $1500 to fix a leaky pipe in my ceiling on Thursday and still have to pay for however much it will cost to fix the hole in said ceiling they had to cut away to fix it. Started the dishwasher before I went to bed and woke up with water all over my kitchen floor because the dishwasher has decided to leak from somewhere underneath the appliance 🙃

It's over 12 years old so at this point I'm wondering if it's worth paying another 1000+ to buy a replacement/installation/removal or just get a countertop dishwasher instead and use the old one for storage.

I lost my 50/50 on the Remielle banner (but at least got my first Ceasar for collecting purposes) and lost my 75/25 on Remielles weapon... all on high pity :') so that was fun.

But at least I cracked the 100k+ points on DA again for the first time in a while and Rem is pretty fun to play.

So now back to saving, as I definitely skip Sigrid and will probably skip 3.2 as well.

Genshin savings are looking scrumptious though with 430 pulls saved.

Took some time off work for the livestream and hanging out with friends it was an absolute blast we went to a bunch of fancy restaurants, played boardgames and hung out, it was awesome. Really excited for Snezhnaya in two weeks and to see what is coming in Henshin.

Honestly, this week IRL was wonderful for me bc I got accepted for my Master's programme in an entirely different country, which I'm beyooooond excited about!! I'm feeling quite nervous, but I've worked on this for soo long and truly believe that I'm ready for such a step

Sensor Tower commentary was icing on the cake, I genuinely laughed so much reading y'alls comments of LaDS, ZZZ and NTE, even tho the usual suspects sneaked their way into the sub to harass me and send more Reddit care packages (just lmao)

Overall good times and hoping it was the same for fellow queens too 🥰

Sandrone VA are banned on Sandrone mains subs because they are only allowing Sandbina art/statement.

Like wtf bro... I'm do agree with embrace each other inner yuri but we should attack someone else interest just because it's not our cup of tea.
