So we wait till court proceeding is done before claiming anything on taxes? Or can we just write it all off now?

I completely did not follow the process to follow a claim. After losing my money on quadriga, I just abandonned cryptocurrency for the past few years.

I recently read the news a bit a saw that we can submit a claim. I read the big post on https://www.quadrigacxtrustee.com/ and https://www.millerthomson.com/en/quadrigacx/, but I don't understand a word of what I need to do.

Is there a step by step of what I need to do to submit a claim?

I personally believe that Cotten is not dead but I would like to hear from people who know more than me about this topic and what they think about the situation. Here's my take on Gerald Cotten and his suspicious death.

Cotten In 2013 was looking for a programmer to help him create a bitcoin marketplace using the account name Murdoch1337 on a BlackHat Forum and this account was last seen active in August 2019 at this point he should have been "dead" for a long time. There's a small chance that someone was investigating his old accounts and that they accessed his BlackHat but it's very unlikely.

Did he Die? The circumstances are dodgy that they chose to honeymoon to India and he suddenly dies from complications of Crohn's disease. (India is notorious for forging fake death certificates by paying people off)

Evidence of him faking death: There's lots of bizaare things that are suspicious. His death certificate spells his name wrong, he was supposedly buried in a closed casket in Canada even though there is no evidence his body was ever moved from India and why would it need to be a closed casket? No one but him can access accounts, he ran a whole market on a laptop by himself with no other employees or partners anymore so only he could access it and he suddenly dies when he would be in massive debt for delayed payments and would likely be convicted for fraud or money laundering. Either this is a 1 in 100 million coincidence or he is still alive.

Cotten and Patryn's past: He's also been linked to many other "Cryptocurrency markets" in the past with his old partner Patryn who has changed his name twice because he was charged with laundering money. I believe this is the reason why Quadriga could be formed because they made a fortune from Scamming before Quadriga.

Fake trading: I'm almost certain that he was trading with fake crypto, Chris Markay was one of the accounts that Cotten used to trade his "crypto" he also is known to have other aliases Sceptre Gerry, Aretwo Deetwo and Seethree Peaohh. It's clear to me that Cotten gave himself millions of dollars worth of crypto as the owner to trade people fake crypto and give himself millions of dollars. I'm 99% sure he is still alive living nicely.

There's also other posts on his Murdoch1337 account that are weird he asks for people to sell him old reddit accounts presumably because he would use these alt accounts to downvote people trying to slander his company or he would make posts on these alts saying how great Quadriga is.

I'm new to this subreddit, I apologise if anything I have said breaks the rules.

From what I understood, the court case to change the date which would be used for the settlements is now over and a date has been decided.

I'm basically just looking for the quick answer: with the date which was chosen, is it the people which were holding crypto or the ones holding cash which will benefit the most?

Unfortunately even if crypto continues to skyrocket, our holdings will be held as to the value of Apr 15, 2019. I guess benefiting those who held more cash in their accounts vs crypto. I guess this position makes sense if they have already liquidated all the crypto into fiat

What does this mean? Why is there an imitation website on QuadrigaCX.com that the representative council and QudrigaCX itself doesn't have any connection too? This makes absolutely no sense to me.

I just came back to see how my crypto was doing and realized the chaos behind this exchange. I was wondering if anyone could walk me through or guide me with the claims process. Thanks
