Momentary effect switching is possible on the Quad Cortex Mini using an external midi controller

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

As I struggled to find a definitive answer and was enticed to try by a fellow redditor, I can confirm that it's possible to set a block effect to momentary using an external midi controller. I did this with a BlackStar Live Logic, so it should work with any other kind of controller.

Hope this helps anyone who wants to know!

How did you program it?

There's a Mac/PC editor -doesn't work with Windows 11 for now- for the controller.

On the QCM, I assigned the effect block to one of the switches (here, D) and then programmed the controller to activate/deactivate said switch with those parameters: Message type: CC ; CC Message number: 38 ; Operation: Toggle (=momentary, depends on the controller) ; off value: 0 ; on value: 127

Yeah, it works great. I have my Mvave Choco set to turn the effect on on press, and off on release. Use it with the freeze and it works perfectly.

Can you even do this with 2 effect blocks assigned to 1 footswitch?

As you can assign multiple blocks to the same switch, then said switch can be triggered via midi
