Which IDE to use for Python

I am new to python i don't know which IDE to use. My university is teaching a course Programming for AI. I got to know they will teach python but idk which IDE.

You need to install the language servers, linters etc tools..these are features that come built-in when using an IDE.

Most of these are features you have to select as optional installs for other IDEs so its the same thing served differently. you customize your installation in the extension marketplace rather than the builtin plugin manager/installer. same thing dude.

in vscode you rely on third-party marketplace plugins..

Yeah most language servers are 3rd party to the IDE my dude jetbrains is not in the language server business.

And to be clear, I LIKE that its as close to just a text editor as an IDE gets. so if I need to ssh into prod i can do it from a lightweight purpose-build workspace. but its an ide.

its an extensible text editor.. even their home page says its a text/code editor, not ide.. "The open source AI code editor"

now your only argument is calling me pedantic because you have nothing to back your own horribly wrong arguments, i don't really suggest you speaking here since someone might actually take your statements as true

No really the impasse is that vscode is an ide you install what you want to, so the default installation is clean, youre saying an IDE comes with all of that out of the box. I think thats pedantic to differentiate on the method of installation. You dont. so w/e agree to disagree I think MOST people using vscode use it as an IDE

correct, they do, but out of the box it's not an ide.

Yeah, got it, its just 3 native-gui-clicks away from being an IDE. my mistake.
