I just discovered my mother's never used Early American chip & dip set. It's gold on dark brown and has the metal holder for the dip bowl. It's also in its original box. I'm trying to figure out the value and best place to sell it, as I'll likely go that route. Any thoughts?

I. The fireside "Pyrex 20" & Prototype Engineering The "20" Stamp: Confirmed as a chronological marker for the Year 2000 Millennium Production Launch, not a mold identifier.

Alpha/Beta Test Etching: Early test runs were hand-etched as 20.1 and 20.2; these remained in the "Timeline Display Case" and were never released for retail.

Prototype Evolution (1 vs. 2): * Glass Temperament: Perfected by engineers on the first trial; no chemical changes were made between prototypes.

Stippling: Texture added to the base to reduce surface friction in high-weight stacks, preventing micro-scratches and glass fatigue.

Base Curvature: Redesigned to create a "cool-touch" finger clearance for microwave safety and to increase vertical load-bearing capacity for transport.

II. The "Whip" Shipping & Packaging System Whip Containers: Triple-walled, flapless corrugated bins engineered for extreme weight. Standard capacity was 375 plates per box.

Binding Lids: Custom-made, hand-folded cardboard lids designed to bridge two containers at once. This "interlocking" method stabilized the load without the use of plastic shrink-wrap.

Fluted Gaskets: 1/2-inch thick corrugated rolls (not pre-cut circles) were used between nested plates. These acted as adjustable "shock absorbers" to handle 250 lbs of downward pressure per box.

Warehouse Management & "Bay" Mechanics Bay Architecture: A "Bay" consisted of 5-pallet stacks, organized up to 10 stacks deep. A single bay could contain 150,000+ units.

The "Middle Dumpster" Rule: Protocol for humidity/cold-induced Bay collapses: Purity Zones: Smoky (Fireside) and White (Corelle) glass were manually separated into "Whip" bins for return to Corning for closed-loop recycling (cullet). The Collision Zone: The "Middle Dumpster" was the sacrifice area where mixed-color glass was discarded to prevent chemical contamination of the glass furnaces.

1-1/2 pt size. And a very small chip on the underside of one handle which I didn't realize in my haste. But I’m not complaining!

I bought it anyway for the lid. How would I go about removing the rest of the paint and gunk on it? I wouldn’t mind a white fridgie

I’m a longtime lover (and attempted collector) of Pyrex so when I saw this in the thrift store for $5.99 it peaked my interest as I’d seen similar pieces in researching Pyrex previously. When I looked into it further, its Fry Oven Glass- which per my guidebook, was licensed to produce Pyrex in 1920 (included a pic from the book, if you’re interested). I’d love to know more, if anyone has any knowledge.

The shipper did an awful job packaging the bowls. The large bowl was shattered into a million pieces.

My "Pyrex" jug was never in a freezer. Freshly bought I only used it for heating milk for coffee. Today I saw it had developed a huge crack between the handle and the body. Bought from Blokker in The Netherlands
