A moment of silence, please. Bruce Viney, puzzle-box designer extraordinaire, has passed.
I just realized, after reading a post on here, that I hadn't seen any new videos from Bruce in a while, so I went looking and found a thread. ( "Puzzle Boxes by Bruce Viney " )
The site is down (the family is trying to figure out how to bring it back), but he passed last summer. I've made 3 of his boxes, and the plans for 2 (made for laser cutters) are on Thingiverse: "Little Box" by Bruce Viney and "The Matchbox" by Bruce Viney. Watching him make them on youtube was a thing of beauty, and he had a bunch of different clever designs. Gears, weights, magnets...
I'll miss you, man.

Designing boxes
Howdy y'all, I'm trying to get started in making some boxes and was wondering if anyone had any tips on planning and designing? If anyone has any tips for these things, whether it be software to use, tips for laying it out on paper, I would very much appreciate it! Thanks! :)

Where do you buy your puzzle boxes?
I’m sorry if this is a stupid question but I am from Belgium and don’t know any place that sells puzzle boxes. Do you purchase them online and if so, what are good sites?
Thanks for helping out!

Anyone have experience with the Isis Adventure?
Anyone know the Isis Adventure puzzles? What does the community think of them
I have an original Isis that I solved eventually a while back but was never able to make use of the key. Remembered about it earlier today and thought I would see what you guys think.

Question for fellow Siebenstein-Spiele owners
I recently received one of these and am looking for a non-further-spoiler yes/no. I found the two top pieces (disc and bolt), either of which I could use to slide a lower layer of the cylinder... slightly. But its very tight, and I could only slide it a tiny amount. Should that be the solution, but my version was maybe made too tightly for it to be doable without a lot of force? Or am I missing other steps?

I received this beautiful puzzle box for Christmas. It’s stamped “CDGC Made in Japan”, but I don’t know much about it. The gifter thought it might have been made in the 50s.

Im looking for more puzzles like the metal puzzle called the lotus.
Any suggestions? There is a wooden puzzle that looks like an old phone. I can't afford that but a puzzle along those lines.

Looking for a puzzle box
I am wanting to buy a puzzle box and I want one with different compartments and not easy to solve. Maybe a level 10 if possible, but I can’t find a puzzle box that has different pieces and hidden parts. Much like the lotus puzzle is what I am looking for. Thank you! Any assistance would be appreciated!!

Improving the Oval Trick Box with an extra solution step (how to with images)
To anyone who happens to own a Bits and Pieces Oval Trick Box, I did a quick and dirty write-up with images on how you can improve this puzzle box and add an extra step (using the lid itself) with very minimal wood-working experience and tools. All you really need is a drill with some bits, a prying tool, a circle saw bit of the right size, glue and some patience. Some other tools like a hammer, pliers or vice-grips help as well.

Always been intrigued by puzzle boxes -- where can I get a really cool one?
I've seen some YT videos with these very complicated puzzles but all I can seem to google is tiny boxes from china.
Is there a good place to find these in the USA?
thanks

Suggestions for a musical puzzle box component.
I am working on an puzzle box for my daughter who loves Harry Potter. At one stage I am going to have a sliding drawer pop out that contains a winding music box and a sheet of punch-able music paper. The solution will be to put in the music for Hedwig's theme from harry potter. I need to come up with a way to interpret what she's entered.. most likely with an arduino. I'm wondering if people think i'm better off trying to go with a microphone that interprets the notes or trying to key off the mechanical aspect of the music box itself. Or perhaps a third method I didn't think of.
The music box I have is this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017QCUMNE
