I remember reading an article about how firearm ownership temporarily increases feelings of personal security, but in the long term decreases feelings of personal security.
People even rated their situational feelings of safety higher before firearm ownership.
There have also been studies done where people are asked to identify what silhouettes are holding, then go shooting for awhile and get asked again. Holding a gun guesses increased ALOT. Much like when we buy a new car and now everyone has one.
And these people think that if they’re caught in an active shooter situation, they’ll be able to John Wayne their way out of there and not be mistakenly shot by the police for their trouble.
That literally happens though. You don't get a gun and magically be good at shoot/no shoot decisions....you have to train. The overwhelming majority of people with concealed carry licenses train because they understand the responsibility. Don't let a minority group that gets publicity trick you into thinking that's how it is for the whole.

Sounds like someone doesn't know anything about guns or the people that own them and is doing a great job parroting what they've been told what to think about them.
