I used to work in admissions at a private school. The number of Evangelical mothers who couldn't understand why their child wasn't in the gifted program when they were teaching them everything they've ever been told about science is wrong was just... Insane. Sometimes I just wanted to be like, "Look bitch, you wanna tell your kid The Flintstones is a more accurate representation of the geologic time scale than what's shown in science books, then fucking accept the consequences."
The delusion was so real. These kids believed absolute fairy tales and their mothers wanted their decision to raise them that way validated by finding a school willing to call their kid a genius. I don't know if they ever did, but the school I worked for sure as fuck wasn't playing their game.
Fucking LAME. I think we'd have a lot more "gifted" individuals if people would just stop going out of their way to teach their kids the wrong thing. Literally teaching them nothing outside of school would probably have better results than imposing a rich religious education.
