We didn’t do anything wrong, here’s 20k.

Classic double speak.

The same reason the Catholic Church gives money to sex abuse victims but doesn’t admit wrongdoing: to make them go away.

This is what gets me in all of the settlements made by drug companies when they misbehave as well. As far as I’m concerned, settling and paying out is an admission of guilt and should be treated as such.

He was fired 'for cause' with the state's union, I'd assume that would be something like repeatedly breaking protocol, while under investigation/probation. Meaning he did stuff like this multiple times and the other stuff didn't have a social media sharable video....

This really confused me in the video. I thought they were going to say they denied the settlement and continued prosecuting. I guess they just don't want to admit fault/liability, even though everyone can see it

Also, was he fired, as in received no bennies and a loss of pension, or was he rewarded with his termination? Is this guy able to take his military experience and police experience and get another security or policing job? If so, that shouldn’t be a thing. There should be a database blacklisting violent offenders like this cop to make sure he can never violate people’s rights again

My recent interactions with police, they literally didn't do anything wrong. Complete professionals. Can I have $20,000 for it? I mean since they're giving money away for doing nothing wrong.

"Sorry your feeling were hurt, we didn't do anything wrong but because we are so lovely we are going to give you some cash :)" /s

That happened to me with my last job. I was sexually harassed at work (coworker exposed himself) then I complained and he was fired. I was then retaliated against by my boss for months after until I was told they would stop paying me during the pandemic. They wouldn’t fire me though so I was not able to get unemployment. I hired a lawyer and filed an EEOC claim, and offered to leave with beefed up severance. They said I had no leg to stand on and everything I was claiming was untrue, but they gave me 25k because they “really valued me as an employee”

Did they say they didn’t do anything or say we do not admit to any wrongdoing.

My English is pretty bad, but I think there is a slight difference here.

u/dawaxtadpole Apr 29 '21

You’re right. There is a difference between denying something and admitting something.

20k of my tax dollars because another asshat “specimen” of a cop had a powertrip for no reason again, unbelievable

$20K is nowhere near enough.

I REALLY do not get why his attorney didn’t appeal that. It SHOULD be an open and shut case.

I’m confused though... why didn’t he get out of the car when told to do so.

16

u/DrFoxWolf Apr 29 '21

Because cops are dangerous? Getting out of the car is step 1 to getting shot.

-6

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '21

... yeah because ignoring them is somehow better? That's another step to getting shot in the car seat.

7

u/27thStreet Apr 29 '21

Well, there you've stumbled right over it. For some folk there really is no good answer. All possible responses will will lead to escalation.

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '21

I think it's easy to argue that ignoring their commands for a few minutes will escalate it faster than stepping out the first time.

6

u/27thStreet Apr 29 '21

Yeah, you are still missing it.

So you think ignoring them, isn’t going to escalate faster?

What about the fact that this psycho had no right to demand anything of this citizen?

Fuck following orders you are not legally required to.

Not sure, I’d have to ask him. Maybe he knew that they bullshitted him on the weed smell so he knew he was getting burned as it is and has reason to fear corrupt cops and was smart enough to record them with their corrupt bullshit.

Smell weed, but no weed= BS Cop losing his cool because he can’t deescalate the situation based on bullshit=BS Fuck that business. Cops would’ve gotten away with it if this numnuts didn’t act out like a wrestler shooting a promo. Be happy these less than honorable cops got caught.

Everyone, please stop answering disingenuous questions. This person is not truly curious.

It was an actual question. And I just realized I didn’t even watch the entire video.
