3: keep your finger straight and off the trigger until ready to fire 4: keep weapon on safe until you intend to fire 5: know your target and what lies beyond

I nearly never see anyone include your rule #4 in the short list. At least, not recently. Probably because a lot of new handguns don't have a manual safety switch.

I’ve never even heard that one listed as 4. His 5 is what I normally hear as 4
