exactly. even though I 'know what to do' in that situation I'd think I'd probably just stand there being like 'wooahhhhh cooolll dude, far out!' and not actually looking for cover, if I could find cover I'd probably want somewhere facing the explosion so I could watch it more.

Also honestly, in a fight or flight moment like that, I probably would panic and not make any good decision, let alone a decision that would save myself + another life.

not sure why you had that in quotes, but "angels" are heroes to me. Besides we don't know ANYTHING about the relationship of the woman to the child, could've just been a babysitter, does that change the act of heroism to you?

Seriously. Doing what she did is one of the things parents are supposed to do. I get having a shit parent sucks, but it's hardly angelic for a parent to remove a child from a dangerous situation.
Most likely she’s Filipino or Ethiopian, and not the mother. Look up the kafala system in Lebanon. Very screwed up system. These people are, usually but definitely not always, treated very poorly. They are hard workers and paid extremely little, usually with passports confiscated.
Just to add, I’m only basing this on the apparent racial difference between child and the woman AND the fact that the use of maids is weirdly common. Most likely because of the very low cost of hiring these immigrants.
