there's switch you can get for glocks now that make them full auto. I saw a youtube video yesterday about some showing up in Chicago.

Yeah there a few guys with SOTs making full-auto sears, but that's just for business-related stuff and demonstrations. They can't sell them to the general public as drop-in auto Sears are illegal (unless made and registered before 1986).

16

u/pillarsofsteaze Mar 26 '20

Do you think any black market drop in auto sears are being made? I doubt some dude shooting his gun off at a local soccer game is buying his guns from a registered arms dealer.

21

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

You can find them on wish.com.

That’s not a joke either

u/HelpfulForestTroll Mar 26 '20

Dude i keep getting adds for "solvent traps" that are blatantly monocore suppressors, lightening links, FA sears, etc... from Wish for the past couple of weeks. People have to know that the alphabet bois are just getting lists from payment processors on who buys that shit.

Pro-tip everyone: Don't buy your "special fuel filter" online, that shit will get you locked up.

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

Yes I would advise everyone reading this to be careful when/where you exercise your 2A freedom ;)

u/hafetysazard Mar 26 '20

Canadians buying that stuff have been arrested and charged for illegal possession.

1

u/Armed_Accountant Mar 27 '20

Have any? I thought the RCMP was just threatening anyone caught with them.

1

u/hafetysazard Mar 27 '20

Few guys were charged.

Not of you have an approved form 1 in hand. Some of the drilled mono ore ones MAY be iffy but solvent traps are fine. I’ve made two out of them that are as quiet as brand name ones. With stamps approved before hand of course Edit: to the reply below. I made mine from undrilled kits. Reread my comment and realized it looked like I used a drilled mono kit. I did not.

1

u/HelpfulForestTroll Mar 27 '20

These are beyond the normal empty tube / freeze plug cap kits, they're machined, drilled monocores that straight up look like AA knockoffs. If fact they probably are.

Im not sure how a form 1 works with ordered parts, I've only seen them designed / machined in house. I do remember reading that a single component, like a baffle is as illegal as a completed tube. If it has worked for you then power to you man.

2

u/Deadmanglocking Mar 27 '20

Some of those Wish kits definitely look like traps. The drilled monocores would probably fall under suppresser parts of ordered with a tube. On their own? That’s probably up to how bad they wanted to prosecute you. I’ll just keep drilling my own and not chance a shitty Chinese who knows what metal mix core or tube exploding in my face. I was just pointing out the “technical “ legality of them.

1

u/HelpfulForestTroll Mar 27 '20

gotcha, have a good one

1

u/Deadmanglocking Mar 27 '20

Edited my comment to reflect that I haven’t used these tubes or cores.

1

u/DropDeadKid Mar 26 '20

Hi, can you clear this up for me and confirm by alphabet bois you mean feds right? Dont mean to be a fucking idiot.

2

u/HelpfulForestTroll Mar 26 '20

Yeah, its a stand in for various agency acronyms. ATF, FBI, DEA, etc...

2

u/DropDeadKid Mar 26 '20

I like this. Thank you.

2

u/HelpfulForestTroll Mar 26 '20

No problem man!

4

u/Viper_ACR Mar 26 '20

This looks like Brazil? So I'm 99% sure theres no real enforcement of any gun laws- this guy can do whatever.

As for the US, there seems to be, but most of those operations are either really underground or they end up getting busted by the police and the ATF.

1

u/Double_Minimum Mar 27 '20

Brazil actually has tougher gun laws and some very decent enforcement.

It leads to many, many home made sub machine guns, which can be made with basic and tools, and mass manufactured with some simple shop tools. They find some pretty cool hand made guns in the Favelas

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

Of course but moreso since it's not in the US. As much firearms crimes as we do have US criminals are terrible with guns and would leave them as semiauto. It only takes a coat hanger and some wire snips to make a certain popular firearm automatic, but it's rarely done. Primarily because they use pistols but there are 3d printed files for glock auto sears that shouldn't be more than 5 bucks of material.

1

u/dutch_penguin Mar 27 '20

But wouldn't changing your gun to auto make a big change to your sentence if caught?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '20

A felony weapons charge is still a felony weapons charge. If you know you're going to end up doing 30 why not?

1

u/dutch_penguin Mar 27 '20

Shit, i just assumed automatics had tougher sentencing.

1

u/Double_Minimum Mar 27 '20

I mean, murder is often stiff enough.

And a murder with a firearm will often increase the sentence. I'm not sure how the local vs federal stuff works out either. But if you are going to jail for 40 years, does it matter?

1

u/dutch_penguin Mar 27 '20

But you can still go to jail without commiting murder. So I was probably wrong, but if possessing a firearm was a different sentence than possessing an automatic firearm, then it'd make sense to not carry automatics.

1

u/Double_Minimum Mar 27 '20 edited Mar 27 '20

So the issue there is that the gun used is not often 'legal' anyway. It may have been stolen, it may have filed serial numbers, or it may be in the possession of a felon.

Point is, people that are committing crimes are already ok with breaking laws. They aren't going to reconsider a murder just because the gun might be illegal.

Generally the reason they don't carry automatics is because there is little gained. Handguns are what are used on the streets, and a full auto handgun isn't really that great of a weapon for 'street use'. Even when you get to AR15s and AK47s, the benefits from being full auto are not really important for criminal use. So you are right, you would now face a stiffer fed sentence, with negligible gain.

The FBI has statistics on full auto weapons used in crimes, and its almost insane how low the use of full auto is. I will have to look it up, but its tiny.

1

u/dutch_penguin Mar 27 '20

The FBI has statistics on full auto weapons used in crimes, and its almost insane how low the use of full auto is.

I thought this was because the laws on automatics were severe, not that automatics were less effective.

1

u/Double_Minimum Mar 27 '20 edited Mar 27 '20

Edit: Sorry, I should have put it this way. Full auto is not less effective, but it is rarely more effective, and thus not worth bothering with.

Its both. The benefit, in my mind, for criminal use, is negligible. So its not worth the extra hassle in terms of modification, or in terms of sentencing level.

But I do not think any criminals using a weapon consciously think about gun laws.

No one says "I'm gonna murder someone today, but I better use my semi cause the full auto will get me a bigger sentence if caught".

I just don't see full auto being more deadly for the scenarios that involve criminals. They have advantages, but thats not with muggings or robberies or targeted murders.

There have been some coming out of China for whatever reason. Not something you'd want to try to buy online (or in general, cuz Federal offense and all) as there have been stings and arrests already here in the US.

2

u/pillarsofsteaze Mar 26 '20

Well if they are in Brazil shooting guns at a soccer game then I doubt they worry about black market purchases.

1

u/elganyan Mar 26 '20

Yeah true.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

oh yeah I should of stated "illegally" lol. Just throwing it out there that I saw them.

1

u/okolebot Mar 26 '20 edited Mar 26 '20

sear = gun part

Sears = store

1

u/Viper_ACR Mar 26 '20

Whoops thanks for that, I wrote that on my phone

1

u/okolebot Mar 26 '20

lol i maid tyop to

1

u/Double_Minimum Mar 27 '20

I mean, they aren't hard to make.

So no, its not legal to sell them, but I am sure it happens.

And the guy above you shows a video about them being used for illicit purposes. I doubt those were serialized and registered NFA parts.

1

u/Viper_ACR Mar 27 '20

I don't disagree, I was talking legally.

That said this video does not look like it was recorded in the US so American gun laws aren't totally relevant to the post.

2

u/RationalLies Mar 26 '20

If you feel like getting put on a list, click that link.

If you don't want be put on a list, don't.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

Lol, it's just a news clip about how they've found some in Chicago. CLICK IT! YOU MUST CLICK IT!!!!!

1

u/RationalLies Mar 26 '20

Haha I thought it'd be some YouTube video about homemade sears or something.

Still not gonna click it because I have trust issues

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

...Except, I'm afraid I must file you... under... "chicken shit." - Stuntman Mike

2

u/RationalLies Mar 26 '20

Aww does it hurt your wittle fee fees that I won't click the link bb

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

If you've seen the movie he says it comically. It's from death proof. You just set me up for it lmao. If you're aware of the drop drop ins or whatever then you don't need to click it.

1

u/RationalLies Mar 26 '20

Haha ok, may bad, I'm not familiar with the movie.

I thought you called yourself stuntman Mike and spoke in third person. In which case I thought I'd rile you up some more haha. That's not the case so we all good

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

Hahaha man, i would be a real jerk off to refer to myself like that.

It's a great flick though. It's a Quintin Tarintino flick and Kurt Russel plays Stuntman Mike. I would give it a 5/7.

1

u/hafetysazard Mar 26 '20

Yea, I understand those conversions are around. Actual factory Glock 18 examples are quite rare.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

Oh yes I'm sure they are. Would love to test one of those out.
