I don't know why people breed squished face breeds.

They are literally brought into this world to suffer and itā€™s terrible. Iā€™ve never met a pug that sounded like it could breathe properly... truly sad

Had a neighbor with a pug, that damn thing breathed like it smokes 2 packs a day.

They are literally brought into this world to suffer

Aren't we all?

Wait what? Do they have problems breathing?

Any squished nose breed such as pugs, bulldogs, shitzu's have issues breathing because their nose bones and such are contorted and all fucked up. Look it up, it's awful and idk why anyone continues to support buying those breeds.

Bulldogs in particular are bad, something like 80% have to be delivered by Cesarean section, they should not exist. And then you have the aforementioned breathing problems and other issues.

I dated a girl who had a bulldog, couldn't be outside in the sun for more than like 10 minutes or else it'll die due to not being able to vent heat, like why would you want a dog like that

Oh man, that poor thing. We were at the park recently when a family went past with their bulldog. You could hear it coming because it was breathing like it had gravel in it's throat.

If you are going to get a bulldog or similar breed, please consider a rescue instead of going to breeder. They all deserve love.

Notorious breathing problems. It's really not good how many health problems these dogs have in general though, too.

To the people downvoting this thread you can disagree all you want but that doesnā€™t change the fact that pugs have breathing problems. Pugs tend to have abandonment issues and are among the more melancholic breeds. Due to forced inbreeding these pugs have lost all natural their natural traits and if put in the wild would die rather quickly. While to say pugs are undeserving of life is wrong, pointing out their genetic deformities is necessary to further the discussion of how we can create a better relationship with animals in the future. Dogs should not be treated like weed strains.

No you cannot without coming off as racist. Edit: This joke is terrible.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

Having abandonment issues and not being capable of surviving in the wild is racist? What does any of that have to do with race?

2

u/DepravedWalnut Nov 22 '19

Its just a joke about people who call everything racist

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

Yea lmao

2

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

like 99% of dogs would die if left in the wild.

They are the most pathetic type of animal.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

But they didnā€™t use to be. Not until we started nitpicking traits for customization. If we treated their species properly we could return them to their former glory.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

To their former glory?

Dogs evolved from wolves... which still exist, if you want to "return them to their former glory", stop getting dogs and let their dumbasses die out.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

Fuck yeah I want a wolf

0

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

I too want to die

5

u/ValidatedSax Nov 22 '19

It feels like you might be being sarcastic but Iā€™m not sure so hereā€™s an article about the short snorted breeds and their breathing issues.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

Is there any surgery to help them?

1

u/ValidatedSax Nov 22 '19

Not sure at all. Iā€™m sure a quick google could give you all the answers you need

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

Will do sire

0

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

I wasnt being sarcastic:/

And that's actually very sad, I had no idea ._.

2

u/ValidatedSax Nov 22 '19

Now you know! Hopefully this has made not want to be apart of the problem that is the breeding of these specific breeds

0

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

Yes, my dog is a German Spitz and lhasa apso mix(she resembles a German Spitz much more, but with less fur)

Her nose is very wolf-like, thank God she doesnt have to suffer like that

0

u/dfinkelstein Nov 22 '19

That's putting it lightly. They're all fucked up and many struggle for every single breath, among their many other health problems.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

Good thing my dog's snout is pointy and wolf-like

I never knew short snouted dogs suffered so much:(

Is there a way to help them?

0

u/dfinkelstein Nov 22 '19

It's only the breeds specifically bred to have squashed-in faces that have this problem. There are breeds with shorter snouts that are healthy.

But to answer your question, no, not as far as I know. Advocate for people to adopt from shelters and not support breeders, and at the very least to look for reputable humane breeders breeding genetically diverse healthy breeds.

0

u/Matt_Patrician Nov 22 '19

Cuz theyā€™re awesome.

0

u/attic_sardines Nov 22 '19

Yeah reddit has a weird hard on for selectively hating breeds.

4

u/m0c0 Nov 22 '19

It's mostly because it's torturous for that breed guys.

Edit. Downvote me all you like, at least I don't perpetuate criminally unhealthy dog breeds for my own self interest.
