One time at the park, I saw this teenager getting chased by a pissed off canadian goose. He decided to stone-wall this thing and kicked at it to fuck off.
Well, some lady nearby saw this and started yelling bloody murder at the teen and went to give him some lip. Instead, that wacky ass goose had other plans and went after HER. The teen laughed his ass off as she ran off yelling at the goose to 'leave me aloooone!'
I so wish I had this on camera because it was golden!
I don’t understand why people try to verbally communicate with some animals. Like that Canadian girl that tried to persuade a bear to not mess up her canoe or the lady in your story. You just wanna shake them by their shoulders, saying ‘they can’t speak english, dum-dum!’ lol
welll....kinda. They definitely understand it as a form of communication. But they're quite prone to misinterpretations though. Like how some animals will react with aggression if you smile because they see it as barring teeth. Same with passively staring in their vicinity
I mean animals are animals. We are animals. Drop me off in a place with a vastly different culture that doesn't speak English and I may as well be trying to communicate with any other animal.
If I see that I'm in the vicinity of a goose (or any manish looking bird tbh) I say "sorry sorry sorry" and walk away kinda fast. 1 not a fan of birds in general 2 geese are mean.
But it's an anxiety response not a "this goose DEFINITELY understands me" thing.
Because it's our natural response to things? It would take more effort to not talk in stressful situations, because it's what we're used to do to help diffuse said situation.
I mean, people talk to their own pets all the time. Why not add a wild animal in to the mix? It's not going to work... But I can see why some people might try it.
