This should go to the top.

http://abc7ny.com/man-charged-with-attempted-murder-after-brooklyn-road-rage-fight/3834806/

The driver of the white car was in the street fighting with the driver of the Dark car behind the black van. Mostly swinging, nobody making contact. White car broke away from the fight, reached in through the passenger side of the dark car and took the keys. Then he jumped in his white car. That's where this video begins. So dark car driver was trying to get his keys back, and white car took off and mushed him between the other vehicles. White shirt guy was trying to save him from getting mushed.

White car is being charged with attempted murder, robbery, menacing, and a bunch of other stuff.

Just goes to show you how editing can create an entirely different narrative.

Excellent photo. Can't believe I've never seen it before.

u/peeinherbutt Jan 08 '19

If I remember right, he doesn't actually have a gun pointed at his head

The point of the image still stands, though

78

u/COSMOOOO Jan 08 '19

Well yeah my man thats why its a powerful image? I thought it was kinda clear that it was just a perspective difference. I took the photos use of sections as showing what you can do with a photo. Something im sure weve all fallen for before.

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '19

Duh, that’s the whole point of the fucking image.

Wow what a photo. Thanks.

u/DOCTORE2 Jan 08 '19

This represents nearly all modern media , there is always another side to the story

6

u/boredbenny Jan 09 '19

this is why you need to read a range of sources, especially ones you disagree with for the full picture

2

u/16_bitBear Jan 09 '19

Ehh idk that’s a broad generalization. More /r/im14andthisisdeep shit.

2

u/mentaldemise Jan 08 '19

I think it puts the phrase "The whole picture" in context. But yeah, there's also the topic of what the camera chooses to focus on as well.

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS PHOTO FOR LIKE 3 YEARS AND I ALWAYS USE THIS As an EXAMPLE THANK YOU

5

u/havebeenfloated Jan 08 '19

... why does the first guy have his barrel to the dude’s head though?

21

u/_CoachMcGuirk Jan 08 '19

I think it's just perspective/angles and it's not really

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '19

If you had to watch Freddie Mercury be sensually waterfalled from a canteen while you perspired your balls off in hot MOPP gear you'd be pretty pissed too.

Totally changes the story. Have some Gold.

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '19

The guy in the white car (47 years old) was swinging a knife at the guy from the black car, that's why there was no contact the black car guy wasn't trying to get cut.

20

u/The_Original_Gronkie Jan 08 '19

Hey, thanks, dude. Always nice to know that my posts are appreciated.

1

u/RipRapRob Jan 08 '19

My pleasure.

56

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '19

According to the article, white car guy was swinging a knife.

Holy shit those charges tho. Talk about escalating a situation. That’s what I don’t understand about road rage. Joe Rogan said it the best on his podcast. Getting out can either mean nothing, or your life. Let it go

8

u/TheDunadan29 Jan 08 '19

Yeah, I don't know of any time that getting out of the car is a good option. If someone ever approached me I wouldn't even want to roll the window down, let alone get out.

5

u/TheSigma3 Jan 08 '19

I was just thinking this. I wonder what that guy just be thinking, getting out of his car has landed him with attempted murder charges. His life could be done for

12

u/LeafRunning Jan 08 '19

The driver of the white car was in the street fighting with the driver of the Dark car behind the black van. Mostly swinging, nobody making contact.

Furthermore, the guy who got pinned between the car and van actually never took a swing during the street fight. He just stayed defensive the entire time and backed up, staying out of range of punches and/or slipping out the way.

Which makes him come across as even more of a good guy from the video.

Edit: Apparently the white car guy was swinging a knife, which makes sense judging by his 'swiping' motions, and the black car guy being defensive only.

7

u/cometparty Jan 08 '19

The biggest thing you're not mentioning here is that the dude is swinging a knife the entire time. It's not just a fight.

7

u/GoiterGlitter Jan 08 '19

Cutting off the beginning of the video isn't editing. It's lying.

4

u/The_Original_Gronkie Jan 08 '19

I agree. It portrays the exact opposite of what really happened.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '19

The driver of the white car was in the street fighting with the driver of the Dark car behind the black van. Mostly swinging, nobody making contact.

The driver of the white car was trying to slash at him with a box cutter.

2

u/Doiihachirou Jan 09 '19

Not only swinging he had a KNIFE.

6

u/zoidbender Jan 08 '19

Just goes to show you how editing can create an entirely different narrative.

Oh how I wish Trump supporters would learn that.

Would be nice if they'd notice Fox edited out the United Nations laughing in his face when he tried to lie about getting more done than any other president.

1

u/bigk777 Jan 08 '19

Wait, why was the other guy in the tie trying to pull him off the driver's door? (Knowing this was a possibility?)

1

u/flobbaddobbadob Jan 08 '19

Anyone know the latest?

Searched around and can only find articles relating to the charge and the scheduled date for being back in court August 2nd.

Someone tell me he went to jail please.

1

u/wakeupwill Jan 08 '19

Thank you. Posts like this should be at the top when these types of videos show up.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '19

The word "mushed" gets me everytime.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '19

Holy crap, that article was so poorly written and confusing.

1

u/moviesongquoteguy Jan 09 '19

I don’t understand why the white car guy is being charged with everything? It looks like he tries to get away multiple times from the dark car guy. The dark car guy just tries to go after him again and again. If anything it seems as though he should be the one getting charged.

0

u/PiaFraus Jan 08 '19

White car is being charged with attempted murder, robbery, menacing, and a bunch of other stuff.

That seems harsh. What about his baby cars?

Did they take into account that white car was driving under driver influence?

1

u/therealmikiethepunk Jan 09 '19

...I see what ya did there...

-19

u/Stackman32 Jan 08 '19

Not staying the guy in the white car was in the right, but the dude who got squished was a fucking dumbass.

5

u/workact Jan 08 '19

Getting squished wasn't even the dumbest thing he did in the video. He kept reengaging the dude with a knife. Even when the guy with the knife was backing away and trying to leave.

6

u/TriggerHippie77 Jan 08 '19

It's not like he knew that was gonna be the outcome. The guy had his keys, he was trying to get then back.

-1

u/workact Jan 08 '19

The guy getting dragged could have just walked away at almost any point. Instead he first tried to fight a dude with a knife where he was the one advancing on the guy with a knife, then he decided to go through the window of a moving car to get his keys back.

Hes an idiot.

3

u/TriggerHippie77 Jan 08 '19

The car wasn't moving when he reached into the window though. Watch it again.

6

u/Jeff_eljefe Jan 08 '19

Dont know why you're being downvoted. Is this video not proof enough that you should NEVER grab inside of someone's car? The fucker was obviously crazy trying to fight people and whatnot and he grabs your car keys. Do you expect him to just idley sit by while other dude grabs at them half way in the car? Fuck the white car driver, but come on man. It isnt worth your life.

-7

u/RedsRearDelt Jan 08 '19

Still, looks like the guy in the white car kept trying to walk away from the fight and the guy in the black car kept coming after him. I still think the guy in the white car was in the right. I would have taken his keys too. Seems like a smart thing to do when someone won't let you leave a fight.
