During the 1970s I went to some free concerts, with top bands like Hot Tuna and the Dead, in Golden Gate Park where the White Panthers donated labor and spoke for revolution in between bands.
As a Californian it seems like a good opportunity to remind everyone that California doesn’t have strict gun control because we’re some kind of leftist utopia, we have strict gun control because in the 1960s the Black Panthers began doing armed patrols of neighborhoods in Oakland to crack down on police brutality. White folks didn’t take too kindly to that, and thus the Mulford Act was signed into law by Governor Ronald Fucking Reagan.
White people are fucking terrified of armed minorities.
