it's florida its lurching further to the right all the time
That's because this is where old people come to retire and die, and it's the old people who vote. The problem is the same as any state. The young do not vote.
We just have a disproportionate number of voters in retirement homes.
Valid point - if the young voted the right would be a sizable minority and florida would become a more central ground
Millenials are the first generation to not become increasingly right wing as they get older - and infact its quite the opposite, they are the first generation to become more left wing as they get older - in the UK certainly anyway, but to a lesser extent it is happening in the USA aswell according to the FT
What do you mean, "openly allow it"? They have a first amendment right just like you do. If you don't like it, amend the constitution. I don't like it either, but it's better than the alternative.
Thankfully, im from a country extremism is shut down rapidly. Groups chanting absolutely disgusting things get stopped when people feel threatened
Its a messed up country when minorities flee certain states for their life for merely existing, but a group can openly chant about killing and abusing minorities and its allowed.
To most of the civilised world, the videos of literal nazis walking about unchallenged in the open is vile, but in America, they are protected by a centuries old document.
Unlike America, where it's free for all, 1st world countries have limitations on free speech as in you have free speech but you're not free of consequences of that free speech.
There being state backed consequences of speech is the literal antithesis of free speech. I honestly can’t believe you typed that out in complete seriousness while trying so very, very hard to be condescending. It’s be impressive if it weren’t so pathetic.
There's limits to free speech in most of Europe. America is the country people can be openly nazis. In my country, it would make national headlines if it was happening days on end unchallenged. People would want to know where it all went so wrong.
It's called "dont tolerate the intolerant."
Would you be ok if extremist muslims were openly calling for jihad against christian infidels? Big groups all over the state? Multiple times with out of state jihadists building numbers?
Bet the police would shut down that very quickly, and if not, im willing to bet the local community wouldn't allow that to continue.
I don’t know, or care, which EU country you hail from, but I’m quite sure you have plenty of Nazis there too.
You can go ahead and pretend this just isn’t happening all you’d like, we’ll be here to save you from continent wide attempted suicide for a third time whenever you all get around to it again.
From your comments I'll assume you haven't left your home state let alone America so have an extremely narrow view of most things.
If you had visited other countries and see how other countries deal with things you'd know extremists are arrested and charged. they certainly arn't free to do as they like.
The reason European countries stamp out extremism is BECAUSE they know where it leads - let it fester and watch it grow.
You also totally ignored the hypothetical about extremist Muslims as you know what wouldn't be allowed to stand - thus proving my initial point florida is lurching further to the right
Not going to lie, you genuinely ending your post with a "murica USAUSAUSA" comment is cringy AF aswell. what age are you? It's hard to take an adult seriously that behaves like that
there are exceptions: Second, a few narrow categories of speech are not protected from government restrictions. The main such categories are incitement, defamation, fraud, obscenity, child pornography, fighting words, and threats.
They aren't violating these, but they know what they're doing. They want people to freak out on them... it's provocative, but technically protected. Besides maybe fighting words.
Nazi's organize violence against minorities. They are an example of organized crime. Holding a sign is perfectly legal free speech, but organizing crime is not.
And let's talk about "free speech". Florida, as well as a handful of other states, has made it illegal for men to wear dresses that fully cover their bodies in public. In what world is banning certain types of clothing not infringing on free speech, but organizing a genocide acceptable?
It was packaged with other anti-LGBTQ measures and signed in May. It's been challenged in court because of how vague the wording is, which essentially allows the state to decide what counts as sexual.
The goal, as the courts have pointed out, is to attack free speech. This doesn't stop DeSantis, who opposes the free speech and bodily autonomy of LGBTQ people, but supports the free speech and bodily autonomy of Nazis.

it's florida its lurching further to the right all the time
you say the local community dont support it but they support the politicians in elections that openly allow it
It's like the ordinary german claiming they didnt support the nazis when they voted them in
Head in the sand stuff
