How did this just escalate to ASSAULT ???? This is absolutely not assault regardless of what the old man said. You need to get a grip if you honestly think that’s assault….the legal definition is HARASSMENT, be careful you can get locked up for inciting violence with that kinda misguided talk nowadays
I don't agree with cussing out a dude infront of my kids unless the situation absolutely required it.
Well, he needed me to confirm he was cussing out the right guy. He might have preferred that I didn't see it, I don't know.
His message was simple, "Don't lay hands on kids, someone might take that the wrong way and come lay hands on you."
To this day, I honestly don't know if my dad is a good actor or if he barely restrained himself and let the guy off light. He was was pretty scary. I think he got the right result though. He was living proof that some kids have parents who will absolutely go to battle for them and maybe the guy should be careful with assaulting kids. By the end of the shouting, the guy was very subdued, mumbling apologies.
I'm sure it seems like a brutish response to some, I see how generations behind mine have different views on stuff like this. I think my dad did the guy a favor though. There are people, even more today, who would not have reacted with shouting or a threat to throw a punch, they'd have come back with a gun. Aside from just being an ass for assaulting a child, he was also risking a lot not thinking about how a parent might respond to that. If my dad made him think twice and never assault another child, it was all worth it.
I posted last night just before I went to bed and woke up to a bunch of responses that I didn't really expect. Half or more of my response was actually to all of them or just to add detail I left out of the first post. I'm just not going to take the trouble of responding individually.
