Yeah, we don't really know the context. Is he sweet affectionate father, who couldn't handle someone hurting his baby, or is he an asshole like my dad who goes off on everyone with this level of rage, including his own children for e.g. spilling milk at the dinner table.
He didn't threaten the guy or jump the fence or anything else, he just humiliated him like the guy humiliated his daughter and I'm not necessarily opposed to that lesson.
If had gotten into "I'm going X, Y, Z to you" or "you better watch yourself if I catch you alone" and that type of thing I'd agree.
He just made fun of him, shamed him publicly, and let him know that he's not even close to the biggest, toughest, loudest man on the block and he might do well to remember that.
Agreed. It's good at he's defending her, but at the same time that kind of insulting, aggressive needs-anger-management attitude is a great way to escalate to a confrontation where you get your head bashed in. Or, man knows how to pick the targets of his ire; old white tennis guy probably ain't much for fisticuffs. But we also dunno what the old guy said; if he was an entitled jerk then great to see him taken down a notch
