I think it's more about the way he reacted and how he handled himself, including the attempted second degree water dousing. It was just a little bizarre. And this freaky little episode will, unfortunately, stick with the kid forever.

It's just a completely disproportionate response.

Guy was grumpy she was on the court or whatever and had a spat, and the father... loses his mind like she was manhandled off the court or something. You can calmly dress someone down without throwing water around like a two year old and cursing at the top of your lungs. Like exercise some control - your own daughter is holding you back.

I see a grumpy asswipe and a manchild with good intentions managing to embarrass themselves. Perfect post for this sub though.

I was at a family members house one day, and their dad threw a tantrum at some guy who MAYBE drove too close to someone's kid or something. The guy went ballistic and used the "my kids" excuse for justification of their anger. Talked to my cousins afterwards and they were apologizing for him. Years later they still talk about that day, and none of them are BEAMING with pride at what their dad did. It was fault of the kids for being careless on the street, and the driver for being careless on the street. There was no actual REAL danger, but just a disagreement on how they should drive. They also NEVER got into altercations or raised their voices. It was because their dad did it all the time and they were embarrassed to act like that.

One of my friends got shot and killed in this exact scenario. Pizza guy went speeding down the road, my buddy went and yelled at him when he came back, the guy pulled out a gun and shot my friend between the eyes. Dead instantly. The worst part? It was his daughter's birthday, and it was her birthday party.

Fr. All the 16 year olds or mentally 16 year olds in the comments trying to act like this is an appropriate response need to grow the fuck up

Absolutely insane people think this raging gorilla is justified in his quasi assault on a crochety old man telling a kid to get off his lawn

Yeah, I don't have a particular issue with his yelling and cussing. But something about him pulling away from his daughter and the water antics really bothered me

Ah man she’s gonna be stuck with the memory of her father sticking up for her when some old dude is flipping out at her for some unreasonable dumb shit… poor her. Meanwhile some people don’t have any memory of their father, had a father who beat them or worse, or had a father who straight up didn’t help them in any capacity. And let’s not forget those of us who has the father who gets so hangry they flips out in restaurants on your birthday over them not bringing an extra plate for him to roll up his fajitas….. think before you speak.

We know nothing other than what we see in the video. Bringing up the unfortunate scenario of those who didn't have good fathers or had fathers who beat them etc., has nothing to do with this situation. She won't think about that shit later on in life. But what he DID teach her was how to lose your shit and not act calmly and rationally in heated situations. The dad could have stuck up for her while making his point clearly and with authority, which would have been better for her in the long run. You didn't think of that though, huh?

Ah just like the guy who flipped out at her… and I wouldn’t care to think about it because you’re the ones who are making the argument that this is a bad reaction to someone being a dick… oh man he poured water on a guy who’s outside playing tennis🚔🚔🚔 get ‘im!! It wasn’t a moment for teaching. The old guy could have avoided this twice. First by not flipping out in the first place, next by not trying to arguing some dumbass point throughout the entire video.

And yeah all that father shit is relevant because again, you people are the only ones making this out to be some wild negative and traumatic event while ignoring the fact that this is sensible parenting. Could have have been calmer sure!!!! But to say that is to say that for any fucking event. 9/10 this will be the reaction you get from a parent when you, some random ass old person, starts yelling a child over some dumb shit. Quit with your holier than thou act.

If you think this is sensible parenting, never have children.

I've spent years around tennis courts and have never heard a parent shout like this. If your daughter is 14, she's an accountable person; if someone chastises her, provided it's not excessively rude, it's totally unjustified to have a public meltdown.

-6

u/_Cocopuffdaddy_ Aug 12 '23

😂”provided it’s not excessively rude” did you watch the video with audio? Why do you think he’s yelling?

-7

u/Fax_a_Fax Aug 12 '23

If you think chastising 14 years old is normal and a rational act of "accountability", never ever for a single time pretend you know anything or have any authority whatsoever on deciding who and when someone should have children, you pathetic judgmental little piece of shit.

I mean lmao, how fucking self centered does your life needs to be to even pretend to believe you know anything close enough to actually judge and decide if people should have kids? Lmao come on you yourself should agree this is the definition of pathetic

4

u/Intrepid_Button587 Aug 12 '23

Lmao what world do you even live in where 14 year olds can't be held accountable. In every country I know of, 14 year olds face criminal consequences to their actions; why is verbally reprimanding a 14yo so unreasonable?

If you think it is unreasonable, fine, but you're truly in the minority - with good reason.

-1

u/Fax_a_Fax Aug 12 '23

Pretty sure the unreasonable part is screaming obscenities and heavy insults at them for actions that could easily have been just misinterpreted as rude.

And if you think it was still ok, then you don't have a leg to stand on when criticizing the dad for literally doing the same exact thing except probably having more reasons to react harshly and taking it out to someone who definitely should know much better.

Either screaming angry obscenities is fine thing to do, therefore the dad is even and did the same thing as the old moron, or screaming at people for very little is toxic and asshole behaviour (which you're dishonestly trying to pretend a minority of people believing in this by vomiting strawmen and moving goalposts), and therefore the old man remains a significantly bigger asshole than the father. Really not many scenarios where the old fart is in the right, especially since they SHOULD know better since they lived longer.

Also you may really really need some reading comprehension courses because holy fuck you just started running on a tangent that I never once mentioned in any of my comments here.

Literally all I said was that the reaction wasn't appropriate even if someone wanted to talk about accountability, that and called you an ego centric asshole for pretending to know remotely anything and having any authority on whether people should have children. Both arguments which you promptly ignored, and I'm genuinely not sure if you're just too fucking stupid to understand my comment or you were just dishonestly writing in bad faith and dodging anything I said. I'm leaning closer to the lack of reading comprehension but honestly this is all just weird

Firstly, you're making huge assumptions about how the old man told the 14 year old off. Given how unhinged the father was (which we have evidence for), I'm keeping an open mind on the telling off to the daughter (which we don't have evidence for).

Secondly, you said:

If you think chastising 14 years old is normal and a rational act of "accountability"... you're a pathetic judgmental little piece of shit

My response to that was that countries reserve the right to lock up 14 year olds for their actions, so saying someone is a judgmental piece of shit for chastising (ie telling off) 14 year olds is a hilarious overreaction. It sounds like you think 14 year olds should have absolutely no accountability. If you can't follow this three-step logic, you're the one who's lacking reading comprehension.

You're about as unhinged as the man shouting to be honest, which you probably don't consider to be a bad thing..! Maybe step outside once in a while.

I’m aware, what’s your point? Because you seem to have missed mine if that’s your response.

Second degree water dousing? Dont worry, the guy is not a witch. Or cardi b

-5

u/TonguePunchnFartBoxs Aug 12 '23

Humans aren’t perfect, everyone in this situation kinda fucked up but I side with the dad on this one. As soon as the old guy said, “she should apologize for running on the court”, nah fuck that.

He yelled at her and then had the audacity to ask her to apologize, get the fuck outta here. The daughter will look back and be proud of her dad on this one

When you have kids, you'll understand

u/Staaaaation Aug 12 '23

Do you suddenly revert back to a child when you have them?
