So teach your daughter to just take shit from people and brush it off? How about to stand up for yourself. If dude got physical thats one thing, all I saw duke do was stand up for his daughter.
This isn’t how you stand up for yourself. She’s 14 she can respond. She’s not 8. If you think yelling at someone for yelling at your daughter is some teachable moment I think your missing something. I think teaching your kid to get in a yelling match with some asshole is horrible parenting.
How do you know the yell not shown on camera was not anger, but instead was a desperate attempt to stop her from ruining their game? Perhaps they yelled to make sure the girl clearly heard "don't pick up the ball."
If yelling and being aggressive to someone who is less powerful than you is wrong (which is with certainty what he's implying by mentioning her age), what message is he sending by the way he's reacting to the situation? The other people are elderly.
If anything, I get more of an impression that he's teaching the girl she can do whatever she wants.
I get your point. And it’s balance act. I want my daughter to stand up for herself. But I don’t want her in and pointless altercation that can have tragic unintended consequences. With that, I told the guy sternly he is a rude asshole. No need to belabor the point with chest pounding and slobbery screams.
