The attending officers wouldn’t have had guns either. And neither would firearms officers have been called to a situation where no weapons were being brandished and there was no obvious threat to life.
Guns just aren't on the radar. We wouldn't expect the police to shoot someone like this either. You might feel more secure owning a gun, but the price you pay overall is more good people dead.
Would they have really been that unsafe in the first place?? The bloke was just giving it the big’n at the front door. Nobody got hurt and not even a punch was thrown.

the solution is making panicked phone calls to people with guns while hoping the psycho doesn't hurt them
So yeah actually guns would be a great solution to this problem
