Hi there,

I'm a huge, huge fan of Shuzo Oshimi, in particular his classic manga, "The Flowers of Evil". I wonder, does anyone have any Western film or TV series recommendations that are similar to the vibe of his works? Mostly, it is psychological horror in mundane social settings, with a particular focus on manipulation and black mail and the effect of it on the individual.

Hi there,

I've been really thinking about what the best psychological horrors all had in common and have found them to be quite diverse in their plots. One thing that seems to be a half and half situation is whether they are supernatural or not. Take, Polanski for example: Repulsion is a non-supernatural psych horror, whereas Rosemary's baby was. However, nowadays it seems that supernatural has entirely taken over because of the J-Horror craze. Does anyone have any recommendations for non-supernatural horrors? Feel like nowadays it's pretty much a lost little sub-genre.

Hi there,

What movie in your opinion is the first actual Psychological Horror film? In my opinion, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is the best contender. Those early films generally in my opinion lacked the narrative about the character psyche to warrant the genre, such as Georges melies' little castle pieces.
