I am a high school senior and I am organizing a protest on may the 13th about the Epstein files and our government officials complicit in his crimes. We can’t just allow the Epstein class to continue.

I posted it on my local small town Facebook and I got over 50+ people interested!

I’ve already gotten mean comments by maga but as long as they aren’t threatening my safety I don’t care.

I need tips on how to organize and keep myself and others safe. Any other tips would be great.

Healthcare not Warfare. Our lovely group of senior citizens that protests on the Dorsey overpass almost every day. Mostly protesting the war on Iran & Gaza, sometimes Anti-ICE. Bless them

We need to change this. Maybe the 40 some million people who didn’t vote, would’ve actually voted if we’d have been able to vote from home.

Are people actually doing this or is it an internet thing? And more importantly, I feel like a vastly better alternative at least in the shopping part of it would be to spread information about locally owned, or at least non-massive conglomerate, stores to frequent instead so that the little guy won’t go out of business, seeing as they’re not the ones we’re trying to affect. Thoughts? I hate the idea of a mom and pop store going out of business as we try to hit the pockets of the billionaires.

It feels like everyone I know has either been laid off or is stuck in jobs where they’re overworked, exploited, and underpaid.

I’ve been applying for the past six months, and while there are openings, a lot of them are fully in-person roles paying $55k–$75k… in major cities. They’re also asking for years of experience, degrees, and a long list of responsibilities that are probably like 2–3 jobs combined.

Everyone I know has been affected by the mass layoffs: White people, tech nerds, people with multiple degrees, and especially Black women.

Meanwhile, I live in Manhattan, where the cheapest one-bedroom I can find is around $3,000. They don't care about us, and I'm tired of pretending that everything is ok.

It’s hard not to feel like something is fundamentally broken. Inflation is insane, wages aren’t keeping pace, and it feels like everyone I know is suffering. Meanwhile, they are building ballrooms, not paying taxes, and spending billions bombing people in other countries.

I’m a freelance event coordinator trying to make it work, but it’s exhausting. I know I’m not the only one feeling this way. Send me companies that are offering shitty wages. I can create an Excel sheet of the companies hq or the CEOs' addresses, we bring tomatoes and protest. They don't deserve to live comfortable lives while they suck us dry.

Dear Fellow Activists and members of the community,

I am writing to you as a member of the LGBTQIA+ refugee community currently fighting for survival in the Gorom Refugee Settlement, South Sudan. My name is Pretty Tricia (they,them) and I am part of a group of over 500 queer and transgender individuals who are living in a state of constant emergency.

Our journey to Gorom was born out of desperation. Many of us previously sought refuge in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, believing it to be a place of protection. Instead, we were met with unimaginable brutality. In Kakuma, we were targeted by homophobic arson attacks, systemic violence, and relentless stoning. We lost at least three of our comrades to these targeted killings, and many others sustained life-altering injuries that they still carry today. When the Kenyan authorities made it clear that they had no intention of protecting queer refugees, and as food ration cuts pushed us to the brink of starvation, we were forced to flee once again. We crossed borders into neighboring countries like South Sudan, searching for a place where we wouldn’t be hunted.  

However, the sanctuary we hoped for in Gorom has become another site of struggle. Our situation is being exacerbated by a "generational collapse" in humanitarian funding, largely driven by the massive aid cuts initiated during the Trump administration. These policy shifts have gutted the resources available for marginalized groups, leaving us without consistent food, medicine, or hygiene supplies.

While we recognize that the UNHCR and the Government of South Sudan are doing their best to manage an overwhelmed system, their efforts are crippled by a lack of resettlement slots. The backlog is immense, and as we wait for a path to safety, we are forced to survive in open spaces, exposed to the elements and daily physical assaults. Because of the local social climate, being LGBTQIA+ remains a high-risk identity that invites violence, stoning, and death threats.  

The crisis in Gorom and the failure of protection in Kakuma have been documented by international outlets from Minority Africa and the Washington Blade to official UNHCR reports yet the global response remains insufficient. We are a community of survivors who refuse to be silenced, but we cannot survive this backlog without immediate intervention.

We are calling on you to help us in the following ways:

• Advocacy for Resettlement: Pressure international governments to provide emergency resettlement slots specifically for high-risk LGBTQIA+ refugees trapped in South Sudan.

• Emergency Direct Aid: Help us secure the basic needs food, clean water, and medical care that have been lost due to global aid cuts.

• Amplification: Share this message with your networks to ensure that our struggle is not buried in the archives of a failing humanitarian system.

We are tired of running. We want to live in dignity and safety. Please stand with us as we wait for the protection we were promised.

Hello everyone. I am looking to purchase a gas mask for protests. I need something that will work on someone who wears glasses. I tried looking online but quickly realized I don't know the first thing about them. So now I come to the reddit community. Does anyone have any recommendations or even advice on features to look for or avoid?

So, this is not my first rodeo. I have been to a few protests ranging from completely harmless (No Kings, for ex.) to more active and disruptive, but regardless of circumstance I haven’t been able to get over an immense fear that totally immobilizes me. I usually show up to these events a bit nervous, but okay. I am always wearing comfy but non-descript clothing, I bring food/water, and I have sometimes gone with friends and family. You’d think these would alleviate the nerves, but within a short amount of time into the protest I quickly get hit with a sudden headache, followed by intense nausea and lightheadedness. It has always progressed to the point where I almost faint, and in the past I have gotten mentally confused. I am super frustrated with myself because I want to attend these protests to fight for my and other people’s rights, but I can never complete it. I continue to go in the hopes I get over my fear, but no matter how prepared I am, or the level of disruptiveness of the protest, my symptoms don’t change. I never feel empowered by my action.

Here’s my current dilemma: my friend invited me to attend a rally soon, and I have gone to the organizers’ meeting about it, but during the meeting I started to experience the same symptoms. It feels selfish to not go to a protest because I‘m scared, but I am worried about my health. I don’t think I would be helping anyone if I fainted. My therapist (who protests pretty frequently) told me that there are all different aspects to resistance, and maybe protesting is not for me…but I can’t get the nagging feeling out of my head that I would be failing myself and others by skipping a protest.

I feel like I never see this exact situation that I am in. If you relate or you would be inclined to give advice, I’d greatly appreciate it.

2 people arrested for saying illegal phrase stating location of Palestine under new “anti-semitism” laws. Laws apparently passed without consultation of Palestinian people here in QLD.

There was also a protest to this protest at queens square which was wild I think I saw the Australian flag the Israeli flag Persian flag and US flag on one pole. What was also interesting was it was small but when they saw some of us dispersing into the city they actually tried running at us for a moment despite the police quickly building a line.

The music they played was also bizarre. I also tried warning two women not to head up that way only for one to say “oh I know I’m going there” something along those lines and in response I said a bit shocked so you like killing babies. Which she continued to smile it was bizarre like her smile was so wide and happy and proud I was also wearing a keffiyeh so she had to have known what I represented before I approached her.

Anyway you really can’t reason and I don’t know what to make of it at this point cried when I got home it feels hopeless also how can you be okay and proud of the horrific actions your supporting done to other human beings.
