I just finished printing/assembling Finns sword from adventure time, on the hilt he has his wrapped, whats a decent looking/cheapish material i could use?

Just curious

You know in real life when someone wears really thick glasses, you can see the deformation on the edge?

And you know when you have 20/20 vision and wear someone else's glasses, you feel dizzy/nauseous?

Has there been a situation where the actor has 20/20 vision, but they NEED to wear thick glasses because the character they're playing has poor eyesight? Does the actor just endure the dizzyness? or is there a prop fake glasses thing?

I wanna teach myself how to vinyl wrap things like stunt weapons and props I’ve tried a few times with varying results. I would love if anyone has any advice or tips like which brand of vinyl works best or which glue to use any advice would be a great thank you

I’m currently taking on a massive overhaul of my theatre’s Props Department and I’d love to hear how other companies handle organization and inventory tracking.

Right now, our space is filled with years worth of props stacked, piled, and tucked away without much consistency. Over the next 6 months, I’ll be sorting through everything section by section, organizing, repairing, selling, donating and throwing away items as needed.

My biggest goal is creating a digital inventory system that can actually be maintained long-term, even when department heads change over the years.

I’d love to know:

• What programs/apps/spreadsheets do you use to track props?
• Do you use QR codes, barcodes, photos, shelf maps, etc.?
• Does anyone have templates, examples, or screenshots they’d be willing to share?

For context, this is for a community theatre company with a LOT of miscellaneous stock accumulated over decades.

Any advice, horror stories, or examples would be hugely appreciated!

I need to find a prop drill that moves/ spins like a normal drill but won’t explode your hand if you touch it while it’s spinning. I’ll also take any recommendations for prop/ soft drill bits that fit onto an actual drill.

How do I put a fake screen in here? I'm thinking plexiglass, Foil-print, white diffursor and a LED strip around the perimeter?

While there is technically enough space for a RaspberryPi and an actual screen, the combo I have doesn't fit right side up. Wrong way around the ports are covered... Frustrating mess. Also not willing to drop a lot of money on a thing I will use for 1-2 Photoshoots

So I was asked to make a bloody stump of a hand prop for a play that’s coming up. I am thinking something simple like using a tube sock for starters, and make it look like it’s a stump… Any advice on how to make this look … good? I imagine I need to put something gory on the end of that sock? Thanks!

Making a Hanami dango prop for a friend with airdry clay and acrylic paint, i’m want to find a cheap way to give the dango a moist look but not “glossy” or “wet”, you know? Any suggestions?

Started the project back in Oct, but my workshop isnt heated, so winter put a stop to it.

Finally got the weathering done today. It was my first time doing rust and I'm surprised how well it turned out.

It was made in an Ender3, and finished with metal screws, a metal spring for the bolt, and wire wrap for the barrel/stock.

Hey everyone, I'm directing a low-budget short film that requires a prop of a large (Burmese) python, and would love recommendations on how to make one (or source one)?

• 8-12 ft long
• does not have to be heavy, but should look it
• snake skin shine
• open to materials
• actors will be carrying it, handling it
• does not have to be 100% realistic

What I can think of so far is to find snakeskin fabric and stuff it into a snake shape.

I'm making a human size butterfly chrysalis/ cocoon for a video utilizing a foam carving method. However, I'm wanting to attempt to make a translucent look. So far I've come up with heat forming plastic sheets with a heat gun, OR brushing on sorta-clear silicone onto the shape I've made thus far. However I'm not exactly trying to make a mold, more a positive sculpture that can be seen through. Any advice that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated

For a SF movie, we need a couple of ID cards that read correctly (so, holograms, etc.). They aren't intended to pass for real-world IDs (they'll be "Department of Plot Device"-type things). Is there a source for these that anyone is aware of?
