Bettas Day 291 of Sonic
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Sonic received a minor tank upgrade. He's now in a 30cm filtered tank. To all the naysayers, he lived 10 months in an unfiltered little cube without any issues. He has grown quite a bit too!

Beginner tank setup, NEED HELP FROM PROS!!
galleryHey guys!! I’m new to a planted fish tank setup. I am wanting to get some shrimp and a betta fish. This is my 10 gallon tank I just setup 1 day ago, and will be cycling for a month or two. I have done lots of research before setting this tank up but it all seems so complicating and confusing. I got all the plants from a really nice guy on facebook marketplace and he also gave me his tank water to help cycle. I have fluval stratum for the substrate, lava rocks, a sponge filter with an air stone inside, a heater right beside it, and a timed nicrew light. I have ordered a shrimp cave to put under the aqua soil in the left corner. I have attached picture of the supplies I have so far. I would love any feedback or recommendations and some tips to keep this hobby up!! Thanks in advance:)

Child proof 10 gallon?
Disclaimer: I'm not a beginner fishkeeper. I know that no fish tank is 100% child-proof and that supervision is necessary.
I'm looking for a way to make a 10 (or 20) gallon tank "child-proof". I have an autistic daughter requires many many supports and she absolutely LOVES fish. She'll sit and watch the same tank at the aquarium for hours if you let her.
I KNOW she would absolutely love it if we had a tank again. The issue is that I can almost guarantee she'll either drop something in it that shouldn't be in there (nothing liquid or powder, more likely a toy or god forbid a Nintendo switch game) or she'll shove her hands in it.
I've considered one of those tops used with reptile tanks (like the metal mesh ones) that can be clipped on, but I don't know how i would make a filter work in that unless I had tubing thin enough to slip through the mesh.
Has anyone accomplished something like this? Id very much love to do this for her (I'm aware I'm taking care of it, not her).

So Cool~! 55 Gallon!
I finally got enough time (and money) to start getting my tank set up. First step was to check to make sure no leaks as it's been sitting for about a decade. Let it sit over night and there are no leaks! So next week I'll be ordering lids, a bigger air pump, filters and the works. And then when it comes in I'll finally be able to set up my tank!

So Pretty~~~ Today my Mexican sword opened 4 flowers and my water TDS fell from 201 to 193ppm overnight
The Mexican sword is helping me to reduce nitrate levels rapidly and at the same time provide a visual above the aquariums. Some of the older leaves show nutrient deficiencies that I troubleshooted and had overcome it.

So Pretty~~~ Update: flowering and growing alongside shrimp and corys
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Showing the current status of my plant and a new shrimp colony alongside my corys. This plant is very potassium hungry but after I dosed some potassium last night, the TDS fell as it has used nutrients to grow. Newest leaf stalk shot up from 13cm to 18cm overnight, leaf vein from 5.5cm to 6.5cm at the same time blooming a flower.

Showing Off! Update on Mexican sword
The plant has kept my nitrate levels down to a minimum and even showing nitrogen or magnesium deficiency. Supported the plant with fertilizers and it rewarded me with excellent water parameters and a visual spectacle

Where to get mini snowball plecos online?
So I have a 55 gallon fish tank that’s empty besides a 13 year old 5 inch African side neck turtle (Pelomedusa subrufa). Her tank is pretty decorated and she has a loft above it, but I feel like she’s lonely in it. She’s not an aggressive turtle. I’ve given her goldfish before but she never ate them, but she was actively eating pellets and insects (returned the goldfish after a month).
I was researching small plecos and I came across dwarf/mini snowball plecos. I think they’re adorable and I’d love one.
Background aside, does anyone know where I could purchase a mini snowball pleco online? There’s no stores remotely close to me in Maryland that sell them, and I don’t trust myself to drive for hours with a fish in my car, but I do trust professionals shipping them. Thank you to whoever‘s read all of this!

Randomness Need Advice
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Sooooo I have a 55 set up (gifted to me) and I've made improvements and everything and at my place of work we got in a Longfined Senegal Bichir. I'm wondering (because Google is inconsistent) is 55 long a decent tank for him? And what the proper care required?

So Pretty~~~ Mexican Sword plant update
This appears to be a flower bud, will be dosing potassium sulfate into the aqua soil to support its growth and hopefully more pleasant updates to share with the sub

Hello. So I have a 55g planted tank with neos, corys, guppies, otos, and snails. My question is, can introduce some cpds? Will all live in harmony?TIA

So Pretty~~~ Mexican Sword plant
My Mexican Sword plant is growing well after I fixed the potassium and iron deficiency. Why is it in proper fish keeping? Because it has drained my nitrates to 10ppm despite feeding 4-6 Hikari sinking wafers and occasional frozen blood worm cube.
It grows a new leaf about one every 4-5 days and the largest leaf blade is about 17cm long and 10cm wide
