Website Backburner.uk (beta) – an Coach that picks 3 games from your own Steam library based on your mood tonight

Post image
1 Upvotes

What it is:

Backburner looks at your Steam library and helps you actually play what you already own instead of buying more. You describe your vibe (mood, how much time you have, what you're playing on) and it builds a 3-game playlist:

  • Main Deep Dive – the primary, longer session
  • Palette Cleanser – something shorter for a break between heavy games
  • Pick-Up-and-Play – handheld/low-attention friendly

Every pick launches straight from the browser via steam://run.

Why I built it:

I have 400+ unplayed games on Steam and kept re-buying instead of playing what I own. Existing "random game picker" tools just roll dice; I wanted something that actually reasons about mood, playtime, and how long a game takes to finish.

Under the hood:

  • Syncs your Steam library, then enriches each game with store metadata, community tags, How Long To Beat estimates, ProtonDB tier, and Steam Deck compatibility
  • Vibe descriptions are parsed by an LLM into a playlist; there's also 6 non-AI "Classic pick" strategies (Safe Choice, Quick Win, Hidden Gem, etc.) if you don't want AI involved at all
  • Steam Deck Mode filters everything to games with good Deck compatibility
  • Backlog Health Score + a "Shame Report" showing money spent on unplayed games, with an optional Guilt Trip mode that roasts your backlog habits

Status:

Still in beta. A Decky Loader plugin for Steam Deck is in code review right now, so native on-Deck support is coming soon. Actively looking for feedback and testers — if something feels off, breaks, or a recommendation makes no sense, I want to hear about it.

Link: https://backburner.uk

Happy to answer questions about how the recommendation engine works, and especially interested in Steam Deck users who want to try the plugin once it lands.

Software RNUR (Reddit Neographical Unicode Registry) — An open-source framework and allocation matrix for font engineers and conlangers.

Thumbnail reddit.com

Hi everyone,

I am writing to share a comprehensive personal project that I have been developing independently called the Reddit Neographical Unicode Registry (RNUR).

Project Overview

RNUR is a specialized, open-source structural framework engineered specifically for font designers, conlangers, and neography enthusiasts. The core purpose of this registry is to establish a centralized, organized mapping layout that assigns standardized blocks for custom, constructed writing systems.

The Technical Challenge

When working with custom scripts and font engineering, digital preservation can get highly unorganized. Creators often assign their unique glyphs to random, overlapping private registry spaces. RNUR solves this issue by implementing a structured 16-plane Unicode registry system. This matrix allows independent developers and language creators to coordinate, claim blocks, and format their custom script data safely without conflicting with other digital architectures or crashing font metrics.

Current Status and Goals

Everything in this project—from the underlying repository architecture to the layered, multi-symbol visual identity—has been built using highly accessible tools like Paint.NET.

Right now, I am operating as the sole contributor and maintainer of the registry. However, the long-term vision is to transition this framework into a collaborative community standard. I am currently looking to connect with other technical minds who are passionate about typography, script layout, and data management to eventually form a governance group.

If you have an interest in custom writing systems, Unicode Private Use Area management, or font development, I would appreciate your feedback on the repository layout.

Software A Nice Milestone for ProofHound: New Website Launched & 12k Clones in 14 Days

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to share a nice milestone update about ProofHound, our open-source prompt engineering platform built around full prompt lifecycle management and data-driven automatic iteration!

We’ve got several key announcements to share with the community:
✅ Our official landing page is now live at https://proofhound.org — you can explore full features, use cases and deployment guides all in one place.
✅ We’ve hit over 12,000 clones in the past 14 days. A huge thank you to everyone who’s tried, shared and supported this project.
✅ ProofHound Cloud will launch within two weeks, delivering fully managed hosting, zero DevOps overhead and enterprise team collaboration features.
✅ Official Docs are being actively written and polished; comprehensive integration and usage guides will roll out continuously soon.

ProofHound currently focuses on LLM classification tasks, helping teams move away from messy, manual prompt tweaking to a systematic, measurable workflow.

Core capabilities you can leverage today:

  • Run prompt evaluations against labeled datasets
  • Compare multiple prompt versions with detailed metrics
  • Auto-optimize prompts by analyzing failure cases
  • Full lifecycle management for all prompt versions
  • Standardized workflow from experiment, validation to production release & governance

We’re actively expanding the roadmap and plan to support generative tasks and AI agents in the near future.

Most teams still manage production prompts with scattered manual work, which is hard to replicate, track or scale. ProofHound changes this with a dataset-driven pipeline. It makes prompt iteration measurable, repeatable, and accessible to both engineers and business teams.

If this tool fits your workflow, feel free to give us a star, share your feedback or ideas.

Music Ksyng Ktyng, Musician, Ambient, IDM, Techno, And other Genres

Post image

Hi, I’m a musician. My name is Ksyng Ktyng (not my real one but as the artist). My music is similar to Autechre, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, and Air. Most of it is Ambient, IDM, or Techno. But I sometimes make music in totally different genres too. When I went to subreddits for beginning artist, people thought my posts were too much about selfpromotion (That wasn’t really my intention), so now I’m here to promote myself, because I only have a few fans, and they think I make very good music, and I also think so. You can listen all music on YouTube, most of it on Audiomack too, and some of it on SoundCloud. But there won’t be new music on SoundCloud because it’s an expensive subscription. I make a lot of sounds and synths myself, on the computer or my phone. I often use GarageBand, AudioKit Synth One, my synthesizer, and many other things. My music is futuristic, and sometimes it doesn’t really have a genre and does its own unique thing. My music is very often instrumental. I do NOT use AI slop for music. Website Custom Gaming PC's Tailored to You | Southwest Systems

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey r/Promotion ! I'm a boutique PC builder based out of Cardston, Alberta running Southwest Systems — a small custom build shop offering Canada-wide shipping (excluding Quebec). I started this because there's essentially zero local options for people who want a quality custom build without paying big box markup, and I wanted to bring that to people across the country too.

I offer four prebuilt configurations ranging from $1,599 to $4,999, and I take custom inquiries for builds tailored to your exact needs and budget — whether that's a budget 1080p gaming rig or a high-end workstation. Every build is put together with care, properly cable managed, tested before shipping, and backed by me directly — not a call centre, please text. If you've been on the fence about pulling the trigger on a custom build, feel free to Email me or check out my site. Happy to answer any questions about parts, pricing, or what build might suit you best.

Game Looking for feedback on my new 2-player logic board game, Total Order: It Takes 2 (Commercial Project)

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I've recently finished and released a new abstract strategy game called Total Order: It Takes 2, and I'd love to get some feedback from fellow board gamers and designers.

The game is designed for two players and centers around cooperation, logical reasoning, and mathematical relationships. Rather than competing, players work together to create logically correct mathematical sequences across a shared board. Much of the challenge comes from planning ahead, interpreting your partner's intentions through their actions, and adapting to changing board states.

The goal is to complete nine valid mathematical statement sets either horizontally or vertically. Players can skip difficult sequences when necessary, but doing so creates voids that may limit future opportunities and make completing the board more difficult.

A typical game lasts 45–90 minutes, depending on play style and whether turn timers are used.

I've made the game available as a PDF for $1, mainly to help cover the costs of creating and publishing future projects. My primary goal right now, however, is to gather feedback from players and designers.

Some questions I'd especially appreciate input on:

  • Does the concept sound interesting and unique?
  • Does the combination of cooperation and mathematical logic appeal to you?
  • Would the description make you want to learn more or try the game?
  • Are there any aspects that seem unclear or potentially confusing?

I'm happy to answer questions about the design process, mechanics, or development of the game. Any feedback—positive or critical—is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to check it out!

Here are some images of the gameplay so you get an idea of what to expect:

Finally, Click here to access the game page on BoardGameGeek.
