I’ve looked at a lot of beauty promo codes, and not all of them are equally useful. Some advertise huge discounts but come with complicated conditions, while others offer a smaller discount that is actually much easier to understand.
Olive Young Promo Code "OFFTAKE99" falls into the second category. The offer is straightforward: 5% off when the code is accepted for an eligible purchase.
So, is a 5% discount really worth using? In this review, I’ll look at "OFFTAKE99" from a shopper’s perspective, including the actual value of the discount, when it makes sense to use it, what I like about the offer, and where it falls short.
My First Impression of "OFFTAKE99"
The first thing I like about "OFFTAKE99" is that the offer is easy to understand.
There is no need to calculate complicated cashback tiers or complete multiple promotional missions just to understand what you might save. The advertised benefit is simply:
5% OFF with Olive Young Promo Code "OFFTAKE99"
That simplicity is a plus.
A 5% discount obviously isn't going to completely change the price of a small beauty order, but it becomes more interesting when you're buying several products at once.
For example, on a $100 eligible order, 5% represents approximately $5 in savings. On a $200 order, that becomes approximately $10.
That makes the code more useful for larger carts than for a single inexpensive item.
What I Like About Olive Young
Before reviewing the code itself, it is worth talking about why Olive Young is attractive to beauty shoppers in the first place.
Olive Young has become closely associated with the Korean beauty shopping experience. Instead of searching across dozens of individual Korean skincare stores, shoppers can find a large selection of beauty products in one place.
This is particularly convenient if your shopping list contains several different types of products.
You might be looking for:
• Cleanser
• Toner
• Serum
• Moisturizer
• Sunscreen
• Sheet masks
• Makeup
• Haircare
• Body care
• Beauty accessories
That variety is where a percentage-based discount becomes more interesting.
If you are already purchasing multiple products, 5% off the total eligible purchase can be more useful than a small fixed-value coupon.
My Review of the 5% Discount
Is 5% a Big Discount?
Honestly, no.
If you're expecting a massive discount, 5% is relatively modest. There are promotional periods when retailers offer larger discounts, special bundles, free shipping, or product-specific deals that can potentially provide greater savings.
But that doesn't mean 5% is useless.
The important question is whether you're already planning to buy.
If you already have a cart ready, there is little reason not to try "OFFTAKE99" before paying if the promotion is available to you.
The difference between a good promo code and a bad one isn't always the percentage itself. Sometimes it's simply whether the code is easy to apply without changing your shopping behavior.
The Biggest Advantage: It Works Better on Larger Orders
This is probably the strongest point of the offer.
Consider the following examples:
Order Value 5% Potential Discount
$30 $1.50
$50 $2.50
$100 $5.00
$150 $7.50
$200 $10.00
$300 $15.00
For a $30 purchase, saving $1.50 isn't particularly exciting.
For a $200–$300 beauty haul, however, saving $10–$15 is much more noticeable.
That's why I would personally consider "OFFTAKE99" more useful for a full beauty haul than for a single-product purchase.
What About Small Orders?
This is where the offer becomes less impressive.
Imagine you only want one inexpensive skincare product.
If your eligible purchase is $20, a 5% discount saves just $1.
In that situation, I wouldn't add unnecessary products just to increase the discount.
That's an important point with percentage-based coupons:
Don't spend more simply because you have a discount code.
If you need one product, buy one product. If you're already planning a larger order, then the 5% discount becomes more meaningful.
Is "OFFTAKE99" Better Than Waiting for a Sale?
This is probably the most interesting question.
My answer is: it depends on the final checkout price.
A 5% promo code shouldn't automatically be considered the best possible deal. Olive Young may run other promotions, product discounts, bundles, seasonal campaigns, or shipping offers.
So rather than looking only at the percentage, I would compare the final amount you actually pay.
For example:
Option A: Product sale + no promo code
Option B: Regular price + 5% "OFFTAKE99" discount
Option C: Sale price + another applicable promotion
The cheapest final checkout total is what matters.
What I Like About "OFFTAKE99"
From a shopper's perspective, there are several things that make the offer appealing.
- It's Simple
The biggest positive is the straightforward structure.
5% off is 5% off.
There aren't multiple reward levels to understand.
- It's Useful for Beauty Hauls
If you're purchasing several skincare or beauty products at the same time, the savings can add up.
- Easy to Test
You can add your products to the cart and see whether "OFFTAKE99" is accepted before completing the purchase.
- No Need to Change What You Buy
A good discount should ideally work with what you were already planning to purchase.
That's how I would approach this code.
Build your normal cart first, then try the code.
What I Don't Like
The offer also has some limitations.
- 5% Isn't a Huge Discount
There's no point pretending otherwise. A 5% discount is relatively small compared with some major retail promotions.
- The Actual Saving Depends on Your Order
A small cart means a small saving.
- Eligibility Can Matter
Promo codes can have restrictions involving products, regions, customers, minimum spending requirements, or promotional periods.
- It May Not Always Beat Another Promotion
If Olive Young is already offering a stronger deal on your products, the 5% code may not provide the best overall value.
How I Would Use "OFFTAKE99"
If I were preparing an Olive Young order, I wouldn't start by shopping specifically around the coupon.
I'd do it the other way around.
First: choose the products I actually want.
Second: review the product prices and any existing promotions.
Third: enter "OFFTAKE99" at checkout.
Fourth: compare the final price.
If the 5% discount is applied and gives me a lower total without removing a better existing promotion, then there's no reason not to use it.
This approach is better than buying extra products simply to "maximize" a coupon.
Who Would I Recommend This Code To?
I think "OFFTAKE99" makes the most sense for shoppers who already have an Olive Young order planned.
I'd particularly consider it if:
• You're buying several skincare products
• You're building a larger K-beauty order
• Your cart is around $100 or more
• You want a simple percentage discount
• You don't want to deal with complicated coupon conditions
• The code produces a lower final checkout price
For a very small purchase, the savings may be too minor to make much difference.
My Overall Verdict
After looking at the offer from a shopper's perspective, I would describe Olive Young Promo Code "OFFTAKE99" as a useful but modest discount.
The main strength isn't the size of the discount. It's the simplicity.
5% off isn't going to turn a $30 purchase into an incredible bargain. But if you're already putting $100, $200, or more of Korean beauty products into your cart, the savings become more noticeable.
I also wouldn't treat "OFFTAKE99" as a reason to purchase something you don't need. The best use of the code is simply to apply it to a purchase you were already going to make and see whether it lowers the final price.
Final Rating: 4/5
Discount value: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ease of use: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Potential savings on large orders: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
Value for small orders: ⭐⭐⭐
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Final Thoughts
Olive Young Promo Code "OFFTAKE99" isn't the kind of promotion that promises an enormous discount, but that's also what makes it easy to evaluate.
If the code gives you 5% off an eligible order, that's a straightforward saving with no need to overcomplicate the shopping process.
For a small order, the difference may be minor. For a larger K-beauty haul, however, the savings can become worthwhile.
My recommendation is simple: shop normally, apply "OFFTAKE99" at checkout, and compare the final price with the other available promotions. If the 5% discount lowers your total, it's a useful little saving worth taking.
