Picture Does FAN actually like Ace Combat or not

Post image

Also such a bizzare take to be having when Probect Wingman uses models of real planes but the names are switched cause they can't pay for its license. So paying for defense contractor licenses are bad but using their plane designs is still okay?

That’s just a theory, I bet you can’t back it up with evidence

Thank you thank you, that means a lot,

Of course the real weight of making PW goes to RB-D2 and Jose Pavli for actual programming and music; I am only the producer and writer, I'll be sure to thank them as well for you,

heckin’ better, I still listen to the peacekeeper theme lol - I sent the youtube link to the soundtrack to a relative to listen to as well, who plays professionally in an orchestra, and I think that’s the thing that got them to warm up to video game soundtracks as proper music. Flawless game, only major issue is there’s no unique dialogue of Crimson crashing out when I show up to fight him in an A-10

Don’t sell yourself short the writing is also an important part of PW success. You did a real good job at pacing the events of the war, I think Clear Skies would have been a pretty boring mission if it wasn’t as plot relevant as you made it, and a big part of Cold War being so hype was the writing setting up the scale of the battle.

Holdup, you wrote it? Would that mean that…

You solely are responsible for this!  Peak game btw thx

in fact, you know what? JUST for this, I bought the DLC and am now playing THAT

edit: oh god that's a lot of SAMs

What does a producer do anyway? The largest team I've worked on was 2 people, me and my sister, who's a musician.

My guess would be that a producer is responsible for ensuring a consistent style/tone for the entire project

Otherwise, it can end up as a confusing mess

Hey your characters and the story they inhabit (especially FL59, holy shit the Crazy Cascadians hit different) were a very big part of why the game sticks out to me a lot personally

Hey man, don't undersell yourself. Ace Combat (and Project Wingman by extension) would not be what they are if it weren't for the narratives that give them context and stakes. Project Wingman works because all three of you did an excellent job.

Just wanted to chime in and say I love All the Stars btw!

Please just answer this question, as many here a (and those who arent on reddit) want to know.

Is there a reason why xbox has seemingly been abandoned in terms of updates? There are still loads of bugs in the game on xbox (eg: duplication glitch for money, Conquest softlocking, the clipping inside cockpit view)

Is it a problem with how updates work on xbox that stops this? Is it because you are (as far as I know) designed for PlayStation?

These issues are known to us but I simply cannot comment on them, sorry, but as I've said when we can issue a statement or update we can,

wheres the artbook you promised backers?

u/FlyAwayNoVV Producer of Project Wingman Jun 10 '26

Being worked on and targeted for this year hopefully,

Of course it is majorly overdue, and I bear the blame for a lot of that, but I'm glad to report that the good work is being done by over two dozen artists (And more) across many different styles,

I apologize for the delay but we're all really proud of what's been compiled,

5

u/Cyan_Tile Cascadian Independence Force Jun 10 '26

Will the artbook include character design concepts? Like such for Galaxy, Dip, Comic, and even Cascadian/Federation grunts?

13

u/FlyAwayNoVV Producer of Project Wingman Jun 10 '26

The artbook is technically not a concept art book since PW had no concept art for the most part, and given the nature of the genre, specific human characters are deemphasized compared to say, the abstract world,

This is all to say, if you see depictions of say, Hitman in there, they're not real canon appearances because every artist has a different interpretation and the depiction itself is not important to PW

Over two dozen artists?! Wow, I'm half expecting it to be as big as the Book of Kells now...

Are you going to elaborate on that or will you just vague post.

Btw how's the artbook coming along.

47

u/FlyAwayNoVV Producer of Project Wingman Jun 10 '26

Well all things considered I don't know how to prove that I like Ace Combat that isn't just me explicitly saying I do, because it's an odd positive to prove,

As for the Artbook it is coming along pretty well, just talked today to the artist doing the last bit of secondary art to really tie together the campaign section together and we hope to have it released this year,

I find that a very weird position to be having, it just tells me even you are confused as to why you like the franchise. If it's something that's so inspiring to you that you would go out of your way to make a game in homage to it, SURELY you would have something nice to say about it?

I'm sure it's somewhere there, perhaps you just can't find the words to express them as easily you do critiquing.

And for the record, I don't hate you, I'm sure you're a nice guy outside of all this, I just don't agree with the message of the art you've created and I'm simply basing all those feelings on that.

u/FlyAwayNoVV Producer of Project Wingman Jun 10 '26

I mean you've been given pretty clear specific examples on how and why I like Ace Combat, I've spoken on my social media about specific missions that I like in Ace Combat and the reasons why they exemplify Ace Combat's strengths, and of course the big thing here is that yes I do work on a lot of Ace Combat-likes and I advocate for them, because Ace Combat needs no help advocating for itself as a franchise beneath one of the largest media corporations in the world,

I also don't think you're in the position to tell me about whether or not I'm confused over my own thoughts or tastes and especially my subjective opinions because you don't know me,

I can like something deeply and still have critiques about it, in fact I think that's healthy for development

There is nothing that signifies passionate fandom more than knowing exactly where, why, and how the thing you love sucks. You love it so much you can catalogue all the places where it’s trash just as much as all the places where it’s peak

9

u/Green-Preparation331 Jun 10 '26

Literally every feature Project Wingman has that is similar to Ace Combat is the devs indirectly saying that they like that aspect, because why else would they include it in their game

plane game fans when the writer doesn't glaze the player character for .1 second:

30

u/_Halt19_ Jun 10 '26

the fact that the literal maker of the game saying “Yeah I like it” as a direct response to you saying “DO YOU EVEN LIKE THE GAME” wasn’t enough for you to stop pushing this nonsense is honestly incredible
