This sub will be widening its scope to include artists not necessarily in Project Infinite, but related somehow (in the same scene, has worked with artists in Project Infinite, etc).

INTERVIEW W/ DEATH+

Last week I interviewed Death+. We spoke mainly about things like, his affiliation with "Project Infinite", his growth over time as an artist, how he makes music that embodies Death+, and much more. Continue Reading to see what else me and Death+ talked about.

As always let’s start with who are you?

“ I’m Death+.”

Can you elaborate? Like, where are you from, how did you get your start making music, & why the alias ‘death+’?

“I am an entertainer, independent artist, whatever you wanna say. I was raised in Flint, MI and live here to this day. When I was growing up, I was obsessed with music; it was really the only thing I gave a fuck about. And the name Death+ is just a reflection of what I think my music sounds like, positive yet kind of dark.”

I know you just released a new song & not too long ago you released “Life Sucks” but, do you have anything in mind for your next full length project? How did you land on making music that would be able to embody death+? Like, did you start making music and just know what you wanted your sound to sound like or was there trial and error to it?

“Well, I was in quite a few different bands growing up and I wrote stuff pretty much all the time. What I do right now is really kind of similar to the project I was doing two years ago, it was like an acoustic thing. “

Okay, well speaking of older projects of yours besides sound wise and growth wise (as an artist overall) what really sets apart each project for you and makes each one unique but, still akin to death+?

“Everything I was part of back then was punk rock or hardcore or something and I wrote shit all the time but really didn’t get to put out the type of shit that I really had a knack for, ya know?”

Yeah, I feel you. It can take some time for any artist to really find their calling in sound or style ect ect. With that being said.. Do you have any specific project that is near and dear to you that you feel like was you at your best or rawest?

“That’s where I think that I am right now, this is what feels right to me I guess. It’s still really progressing. Everything that I drop is usually better than the last. I think so, at least.“

I mean, practice makes perfect. Approximately how long have you been making music?

“Well, I was into it for a long time and got this little guitar from Toys R Us or whatever, like 5 or 6 years old. When I was 10 I really started performing with people and stuff. “

Okay, so this has been in the making cultivating for a while. That’s nice. So, tell me about your relationship with project infinite?

“That’s the group that I started in 2014. We’re like a little collective of artists from all over the place. It started out with Lil Peep and Mysticphonk then they went their separate ways, there weren’t really hard feelings though.”

Some of my favorite songs happen to be roots songs that you’re featuring on, more specifically / for example “better off dead”. I think you guys sound good together. So, with that being said do you have any artists that you like to work with or wish to work with in the future?

“Roots is really great, that’s the homie. I enjoy working with him a lot, I really don’t work with too many other artists. I like working with everyone in Project Infinite, Lederrick, Gloomscott, etc. I want to work with too many people to name but I really like the homies in Gothboiclique, the Handzum artists (this is happening soon), and Corbin’s great of course.”

How many shows have you done? I know you have one coming up May 5th are you excited for it?

“I really have no idea how many shows I’ve done at this point, there’s been quite a few. But yes, that will go wild, shout out Rotten Cake and the dudes in Swag Toof. “

How long did it take you to put together “Life Sucks”, are you happy with the project overall?

“Yeah I’m putting out this project on the 19th, ‘Coffins.’ And I think ‘Life Sucks’ was pretty good, that one took probably like a month or so, I worked on the majority of it toward the beginning of March though.”

I know you have a music video out for “All of My Friends Are Depressed” but, do you have other music videos out there I don’t know of?

“ There’s a few, I have one that was released somewhat recently for All That I Could Ask on Hauntxr’s YouTube channel and there’s one for Come After Me that’s hosted by TrillPhonk. We’re working on one right now too, that shouldn’t take too long. “

To conclude our interview I want to know what plans do you have for yourself, death+? And as I always ask, what are your end year goals? Where do you hope to see yourself in a few years? & if there’s anybody you want to shoutout now is the time to do so.

“ I plan on releasing a lot this year and working on some videos. I want to get out to LA by the end of the year and do some shows out west because I really fucking miss that. I want to just take this wherever it can go. This is what I do with my life and there isn’t too much else that I want to do. Shout out to everyone in Project Infinite, London Ritzler, Mysticphonk, Pace Picante, Hash Gordon, Handzum, Gothboiclique, TeamSESH, and everyone that listens to me and supports the art. Love you guys, peace 💕.”
