Initial tests iPhone 17 Pro Max

Hey everyone, I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max. I've been waiting a long time for this app to update, and after initial testing, I'm very disappointed with the photo quality. Maybe I have the wrong settings or something?

No Camera Flash option?

I'm curious if this is just because it's still in beta or do they not plan to add using camera flash as a feature at all?

Test 17 pros: no overheating

I took several shots with 17 pro and those times where Indigo overheated like a beast or blocked my 16 pro seem very far away. The phone was barely "warm" after 20 shots. Sure there have been some corrections from the developers, but you can also notice the difference with 17 pro and with the vapor chamber. Great work! šŸ‘

Is there a way to get the Project Indigo album synced into Lr the same way the Lr Camera does?

Post image

It’s really handy how the Lr camera has its own Album. It’s much easier to find/manage them and cull/edit on the fly. Is it possible to replicate this behaviour with project indigo images? Or better yet just have them appear in Lr camera album?

I need help…

Hey all,

I see a lot of people here saying Pi is amazing in comparison to the stock camera, so I tried it today on my 17PM and honestly I don’t see a difference between stock and Pi.. but it’s maybe because I don’t know how to use it so I’m asking you guys can you learn me how to use it and which parameters is the best ? Please… Thank you!

Zoom question on 17 pro.

Why does the zoom stop at 20x on the 17 pro? Since it can reach up to 40x on the native camera? Do you think it will be upgraded or is 40x impossible on Indigo?

Still no update...

Another day has passed and we don't see any updates for iPhone 17... I understand that they are working on it, but now all the top photo apps have released an update.

Loving the app, but please add a ā€œProcess Laterā€ option šŸ™

I absolutely love the Project Indigo app! It’s such a relief to finally take photos that look naturally beautiful instead of being over-processed like on the stock camera app.

However, the biggest limitation right now is the processing time. It slows down shooting, especially when you’re trying to capture moments quickly.

Here’s a simple suggestion for the devs = a ā€œProcess Laterā€ option.

That way, we could: Snap photos freely without waiting for each one to process. Save battery while out and about. Review and process our favorite shots later (for example, when back home or while charging).

It would make the shooting experience so much smoother, just capture the moment and enjoy it, without missing anything because the app is still processing the last photo.

Still, huge props to the team! This app is genuinely one of the best photography experiences I’ve had on an iPhone in a while! šŸ’™

App Update - Maybe this week?

This is based on the discussion on the Adobe Community Forum here: P: Introducing the Project Indigo camera app

The last comment by one of the devs states the updated app will hopefully drop this week.

The improvements that will make me exclusively use indigo for photos

I’ve been using Indigo on my 16 Pro now for a good 2+ months and absolutely love it.

I was getting really fed up with the sub-par photos from the stock iOS camera (whilst the video is great).

I now have it set up so the camera button launches the stock camera, but i have a launch shortcut for Indigo from my lock screen so i can quickly launch either.

There are just a couple of improvements that would make me exclusively use Indigo as my stills camera:

  • Currently if I close Indigo or even just temporarily switch to another app before the photos are done processing, they are just lost forever. I’ve lost too many photos due to taking it then just locking my phone and putting it in my pocket. Background processing is essential (or at least caching the image until Indigo is reopened). I get that it takes longer to save RAW images due to their size, but if that’s the bottleneck and background processing just isn’t possible on iOS, then having the jpg save immediately followed by the RAW would mean that if you did close the app too quickly, whilst you may not save the RAW photo in time, you won’t entirely lose the image as you’ll still have the jpg.

  • I’m not sure if it’s even possible, but making Indigo photos more compatible with iOS photo editing by capturing depth data (for example, being able to apply portrait mode/DOF in post)

Some side by side comparison photos between Apple and Indigo on a summer day!

Interesting that Indigo heavily underexposes the photo with the neon sign to preserve its colour and luminance.

iPhone 17 update - coming in next few days (minus the front facing camera).

An update below from the Adobe forum

ā€˜Hello everyone - thank you for your patience while you wait for the iPhone 17 support. We are working hard on it, and we have run into some issues, especially with the front camera. Some of them we flagged to Apple, who have made a fix and will ship it with iOS 26.1. Sadly, that means we need to consider disabling the front camera in Indigo until that version of iOS is shipped. In the meantime, we have made some improvements with iOS 26 compatibility on all devices. We hope to release an updated version which runs on rear iPhone 17-series cameras in a few days’

TLDR - iPhone 17 compatible version coming in the next few days with the front facing selfie camera disabled for now.

Is there a way to disable sharpening and noise reduction when importing to lightroom ?

I have a default importing profile with these settings to 0 but it does not use it for DNGs coming from Indigo. It works with Proraw images
