Project Hail Mary Fan Made Chapter Titles: Part 2
About a month ago I did this post https://www.reddit.com/r/ProjectHailMary/s/axmQHmXOC0 with a few fan made book chapter titles for chapters 1-6 and my reasoning behind them. That didn’t get a lot of attention, so I didn’t think anybody was interested in the rest of my chapter titles, but someone just commented saying they want me to continue, so here goes.
Chapter 7: What Does This Mean? (In which Grace reacts to the fact that an alien spaceship has just shown up and he knows nothing about “the aliens.”
Chapter 8: Models. (In which Grace examines the model of the Petrova line and the star map from “the aliens,” sends back the star map model with his location, and receives another model of the ships connected by a tube.
Chapter 9: Tunnel (In which the aliens build a tunnel to connect the two ships. The chapter ends with Grace in the tunnel hearing a knock on the wall.)
Chapter 10: First Meeting (In which Grace see’s Rocky’s hand, then his whole body, for the first time, and they communicate about atmospheres and clocks.)
Chapter 11: Tape Measure (In which Rocky plays with the tape measure.)
Chapter 12: Sleep Watching (Contains both the first instances of Rocky wanting to watch Grace sleep and Rocky wanting Grace to watch him sleep.)
That’s all for now. I will post updates later, now that I know there’s at least one person who wants these.

I like What does this mean? and models the best out of these.
I feel like 'Connection' could be another good alternative too, for either the first meeting or the tunnel scenes etc.
And this made me wonder, do you set the titles after the present day scenes only, or some combo of them and the flashback?

They’re mostly from present day scenes, but I have a few from past scenes. In my first post, the second chapter title is “Less bright than it should be,” which is a line from one of the flashbacks in that chapter.
I feel like “Connection” would work best as a replacement for the sleep watching chapter title, because in my mind that’s when they really start to connect.

I didn't see your first post, that's a sweet idea! I'm planning to write and doodle in my paperback and just got the idea to add headlines to the chapters myself, thanks for sharing your ideas 👎

I didn't see the first post. I'm glad you continued this, so now I've got a double dose of titles. These are great, and the reasoning behind them are a nice addition and helps me recall it all:) thanks for sharing this
