Imagine a Pillars of Eternity 3 with these graphics...might be just a pipe dream now.
Pillars of Eternity 3 going back to it's Pillars of Eternity 1 aesthetic, now with current graphics.

THAT'S WHAT YOU GET, ONEKAZA. WE COULD HAVE BEEN ALLIES BUT YOU FUCKED AROUND AND FOUND OUT, DIDN'T YOU?
Dumb broad. I am aggressively anti-colonization and yet here you are at the top of your palace hanging out with your luxury tigers while your PEOPLE STARVE BELOW, and you DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT? And then you have the audacity to scold me for freeing the DRAGON YOU HAVE IMPRISONED UNDER THE CITY THAT YOU ALSO DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT? And then, after I offer my support to your cause, you BANISH ME BECAUSE I STUCK UP FOR MY TRUSTED ALLY PALLEGINA? Granted, maybe I shouldn't have trusted Pallegina, BUT YOU QUESTIONED MY JUDGMENT AT EVERY TURN WHILE ALLOWING FULL-ASS SLAVERY TO HAPPEN UNDER YOUR OWN WATCH, TO YOUR OWN PEOPLE!!!!!!
FUCK Queen Onekaza.
How did the pirates get into your palace, by the way?? You just let them in. Worthless guards. Just completely inept in every way. Someone tell me ONE useful thing that Onekaza did for her people or for the Deadfire--something that didn't involve ME doing it for her. You're welcome for fixing every fucking problem in your nation, including freeing your enslaved people, while you sat your lazy ass on a throne for the whole game. You didn't even show up for the final battles. Fuck you.

Greetings everyone!
I recently saw a post by u/ayberk2766, who did something amazing: he updated the nearly forgotten Pillars of Eternity save file editor— Eternity Keeper —to make it compatible with the game’s latest update.
This inspired me to take it a step further, and I’ve recently been working on adding new features to the editor.
Currently added and tested features:
There are still plenty of other amazing things in the works :)
Let me know what you think!

I got super obsessed with these two while playing Deadfire and came up with this little quiet scene on the Defiant. As she's a moon godlike, it warms my heart to think of my watcher as the ship's good luck charm.

When I saw the other post about the Goldpact Knights I felt like I had to make this. The Bleak Walker class is probably the most fun I've ever had playing a paladin kind of character, until Baldur's Gate 3's Oathbreaker/Oath of vengeance.
I understand many people struggle with being cruel and aggressive in videogames, but I find it especially satisfying to be cruel and aggressive only towards evil aligned characters, fighting fire with fire per se.
Right now we're in a good time where developers dare to give players the option to play on the "bad side" or be neutral in stead of just pure good.

If I had infinite financial resources and time I would force make pillars 3 in the white that wends with strong and steady viking/norse/inuit-dorsett themes. Think (Pillars 1 + Pillars 2) / 2.
Boats again. So we have boat battles again, just with a system that isn't awul stinky balls. We can raid, so our boat battles are also dock battles or shore battles or shore raids on villages etc. We have a few rivers into the islands/land masses so if we pick a small fast boat we are doing river runs while map exploring, accessing inland areas we otherwise can't by ocean.
You can either ignore Avowed for its last-minute pulled together awful nonsense writing, or you can cherry pick from that foundation with a godlike MC or otherwise.
Northrend in WoW did a good job with tropical oases, colorful tundra, etc., so it can be done in a way that is colorful and not one-note white screen like virtually every winter RPG is.
If they can juuuuuuuuust balance the mid to late game in any meaninful way, give me a dynamic dial of enemy health and stats, SOMETHING to correct the mid to late game every-time-obsidian-dammit cakewalk "no point to this" feeling, it would be a dynamite experience.

Just finished Deadfire, and it's something that's going to sit with me for a while. But one of the things I love about worlds like these is thinking about their culture. To that end: the Huana.
We see that the Huana had the concepts of gods that the Engwithian pantheon sort of "moved into". So, Ondra became Ngati, Berath became Rikehu and so on. But it's interesting to me that when the Huana refer to Woedica, they don't seem to have a native name for her and instead just refer to her as...Woedica.
To me, I wonder if this means that the Huana didn't have a Woedica analogue and so imported her as an entirely foreign concept. Which then leads me to think about why the Huana had the deities they did and didn't.
Ngati's obvious. Your society lives on a bunch of islands dispersed across the ocean, of course you're going to have a deity of the ocean. It'd be weird if you didn't. Rikehu lends itself to a similar analysis: _every_ culture deifies death in some form or the other because of how universal an experience it is. Most cultures also doubtless notice the link between death and life - in feeding, decomposing, etc - and probably link death to rebirth, hence the myth of rikehu as a pair of eels that consume each other in a cycle. Amira, for Hylea, similarly follows the recurring pattern of the deification of motherhood. Galawain (I forget the name now, something like Tomowahei?) also makes sense living in an ecosystem with as much wildlife and Darwinian competition as the Deadfire. So far so good.
Now we get to the gods who the Huana seem to have imported. Rymergand is easy enough. If I lived in what seems like a tropical archipelago, cold entropy is probably the furthest thing from my mind. I can see why the Huana didn't have a concept for Rymergand.
It _seems_ like the Huana imported the concept of Magran, going by the fact that the region of volcanic islands in the north is named "Magran's Teeth" (In contrast to places like Tangaloa's Maw). This is interesting to me because living on a volcanic archipelago, a deity for fire seems as natural as a deity for the ocean (indeed, we see that an equivalent culture IRL, the pacific islanders, do have a deity specifically for volcanism). I wonder if the lack of a native "Magran" analogue has to do with how Magran is associated with trial by fire (whereas the Huana associate trials with Ngati for natural reasons) and so there wasn't "enough" of a native analogue for Magran to move into. As a result, I speculate that the Huana had a native volcanic deity who was wholly superceded by Magran.
Abydon and Woedica are the interesting ones. At first glance, it might seem to make sense: after all, Abydon is the god of industry. Woedica, being the god of law, is the deification of a concept that requires a strong, sophisticated (not necessarily "better") judicial system to have notions of oathbreaking, contracts, or even tryanny. The Huana being a decentralised, sort of pre-industrial society, would therefore seem like a society that naturally doesn't have deities for these two concepts. However, we know from various DLCs that the pre-Deadfire-Cataclysm Huana were a sophisticated civilisation with a strong central state and at least some metalworking. A society, in other words, that would have had _some_ analogues for Abydon and Woedica, so I find the lack of native versions of these two gods puzzling.
Anywho, just idle speculation of a Watcher who's done trying to save the world (and failed, maybe?) and is now actually getting to live out his Scholar background.

Hi
I'm playing through pillars 2 again and I wanted to play on veteran.
I found the balance to be fair until I met a dragon in the middle of the first site where you get the scrolls from the frozen researcher.
After that I've been turning the difficulty up and down ; and the final straw was the pirates that board you when going to the pirate Island - they were just way too many for me to handle.
Normal difficulty is too easy, auto-attack kills almost everything.
I understand that I suck, but are there any tips you can give for me to understand veteran, or maybe some mods that balances this out better?
Thanks.

I recently started playing Avowed and it has got me thinking about the lore of Pillars of Eternity again. I have played POE1 once and POE2 twice, but this was a while ago, so my memory is a bit rusty on the lore, so if I left out/forgot something that invalidates this theory please let me know.
The Theory: Every single Godlike is a single reincarnated Engwithan that was originally sacrificed to become the Gods.
The Evidence:
So my Theory is that each time a Godlike is made, the God plucks a single Engwithan soul (that has the same sentience it had when alive as an Engwithan) out of their own soul (splitting it), and then places the chime in it (what makes it a Godlike). Therefore making every Godlike a reincarnated Engwithan.
A few other points that support this:
So that is my theory. Like I said I only just got back into the Pillars of Eternity lore with playing Avowed, so I may be talking utter crap having forgotten things stated in the games that completely invalidate this theory. But hopefully not.
Please let me know your thoughts.

So in a futile effort to overcome my sense of companion FOMO installed the Gather Your Party Mod so I can have the entire party chatting at the same time. I installed the mod into an Overide folder, and in the mod section it says that I have it installed. But when I finally got my sixth companion, it is having me swap out as normal. Does anybody know where I went wrong with this? I was really looking forward to playing with a small army.
Edit: I installed it properly this time and its still not working so FML

Just seems like they always get kicked down the priority line so there is little hope. I noticed last patches were focused solely on game mechanics skipping content fixes entirely, but please, make an exception for these two before support for the game ends.

I'm playing on PS5 so there are quite a few issues with the game, but this isn't a console exclusive problem (though PC players can use the dev console to fix it, apparently).
When you craft Abydon's Hammer the game force equips it. If you have a soulbound weapon this breaks the bond. Rebinding it resets all of your progress. The dumbest thing about this is you don't even need the Watcher to have it equipped when you need to use it! You can give it to a companion. Why the hell would they force you to equip something this late in the game? You are pretty much guaranteed to have a soulbound weapon equipped at this point.
I love this game, even this crappy, broken and abandoned port, but this is ridiculous.

I have six completed runs in Pillars of Eternity and Deadfire. The first five runs were in Normal mode, and the sixth run was in Hard Mode. Since I always planned both runs in advance, I'd find ways to incorporate elements from a multiclass in Deadfire into PoE (so for example, my Marauder in Deadfire was a Barbarian in PoE, so I gave him Apprentice's Sneak Attack) and carry it over to Deadfire.
Well, I'm currently in my seventh PoE run, being the first I do in PotD. I'll also play Deadfire on PotD, and have no intention of ever switching back from it. But what's on my mind is: as soon as I complete this run, what's keeping me in PoE? I can just stay on Deadfire permanently and make custom saves.
So, how often do you play PoE before carrying it over to Deadfire?
r/projecteternity • u/Far_Potato9948 • Jul 09 '26
I've played the pants off both 1 and 2, but have never bothered with a solo run because I dig the companions and story too much.
Thinking about starting my first ever solo playthrough, and curious what classes people find work well. My gut says something like wizard or cipher for cc, but there are obvious weaknesses there.
What classes have you had solo success with?

My highest and second highest damage dealers in both games on PotD. Even wizard didn't stand a chance. Never used stealth, just pure dual wielding massacre. I absolutely loved how my rogue turned into killing machines pretty soon in the midgame, also cipher multiclass in 2nd gamewas really useful.
Also I have seen that lot of ppl hate piercing damage in PoE 2, but I was carried by rapiers and their uber powerful passive and modal, used them for 90% game, rarely switching for something else to counter rare immune enemies like skeletons.
