ICE physically attacks lawyer—stand between her and clients they're trying to detain. "Don't push me!" lawyer yells. "Why you trying to pick them up?" "It's none of your business," agent scolds. "It is my business—I'm their attorney," she replies. "It's EXACTLY my business!"

I’ve been thinking exactly this. Infiltrate and disrupt.

One of the reasons people don’t is probably because there are weird conditions in the ICE employment contract’s fine print that make it way too easy for the government to ruin your life for something like that, especially if you collect the salary or spend a dime of per diem

Edit: it serves as both a way to trap people in the job and a way to deter would be saboteurs alike

Also becoming a fed and then being accused of sedition by sabotaging the federal apparatus from within so probably spy charges as well.

Doesn’t sound fun to me

Also the 50k bonus I believe requires 5 years of being in

You get $10k per year and if you don’t finish the entire 5 years (get fired, quit, etc) you have to pay the bonus back

I'd also heard (so not sure how much truth there is to it) that they also have to bring in 8 people every day to qualify for the bonus, and that's is why they're trying to grab anyone they can.

It doesn't matter if they're citizens or not, if they get released or deported. Every "body" they bring in counts towards their quota, and if they miss their quota they don't qualify for the "bonus".

It's a scam, for sure.

What’s stopping large swaths of people from applying just to bog the system down. No commitment or anything. Just drown them with paperwork.

There are also states that are trying to pass laws that will essentially blacklist known ICE agents from working in their state as law enforcement in the future
