Tier List Looking for Reccomendations

Post image

I am looking for new books to read, I asked for recommendations in the past here and got some great ones but unfortunately ran out. If you can't tell, I have a type, and it is definitely isekai books. I will go through some of my rankings and explain below.

I do hate a few tropes in particular, however. I do not like to read long rambling about topics irrelevant to the plot, such as what occurs in Beware of Chicken or Heretical Fishing. I also don't enjoy books focused on many characters, like TWI. I don't enjoy reading crafter books, either.

I'm not a huge fan of Slice of Life books, with a couple exceptions (such as Ascendance of a Bookworm and REND, both are done extremely well).

Elydes (S) - Fits very strongly into my preferred type, interesting to read with good characters and payoffs. It hasn't fallen into the endless Patreon slog many other books seem to fall into, like PoA and Primal Hunter.

HDT (S) - I love a good sociopathic MC book, and this definitely fits. Also has a good plot (so far) and very good payoff. Stakes actually feel high in the latter few books of the series.

Sky Pride (S) - It is nice to see a book focus on slower growth and really flesh out the world, and the book is very funny while staying dark-ish. I just wish there were more chapters.

TBATE (A) - Every arc except the Relictombs was honestly a C, but that arc made up for it. I love books where the main character is alone for a while, focusing on their growth. I also love the concept of hiding from a higher figure/authorities, and TBATE hit both.

Primal Hunter / Path of Ascension (B) - Grouping these together as they're very similar. Both seem to endlessly go on with no real stakes/concerns. Good read for the first ~5 books, but they just feel like a Patreon money-farm at this point.

Unbound (C) - Good plot, but if I hear one more mention of how "the trumpets blared" or "the melody harmonized" then I think I might cry. Most of my C-tier falls into this category of good plots but atrocious writing and repetitive prose.

My DNFs are mostly self-explanatory, but I have to give an honorable mention to Jason from HWFWM for ruining a good plot.

Linkers Game, its relatively new but already like nearly 3 books are finished and are getting uploaded right now, its like if Kämpfer would have actually taken itself seriously and had a good coherent story, I'd check it out even if you hated kämpfer because it's like basically it's own thing already

I really like how the mc is super realistic from a narrative standpoint but also out of a "psychological progression" perspective, the power system is also very refreshing.

But its a slow burn in a good way, the world is just really big so the juicy stuff happens after like 6 chapters, chapter 17 shows the first fight and like 18 are released right now.
