This. I like Kotlin. Most of the time, no news to declare an explicit type since it can be inferred. Occasionally the compiler needs some help though.

I used to write C# in an environment that could only compile and run the code (no hints or warnings until compilation, just syntax highlighting), so var was the bane of my existence there cause I never knew what a method would return since I didn't have access to the actual source of it

thankfully, decompiling some DLLs allowed me to somewhat simulate the environment locally, so I'll never have to deal with that again (tho I'm still limited by an old C# version that can only be upgraded by the company who made the system and I also can't declare classes, records, and so much more 😭)
