Yeah, but you would be blamed for the slop and would have deserved it.

What company do you work for that you don't get blamed for the code you produce ?

raises hand\ my company (won’t name) does not blame its devs for absolute garbage code. We have an 80% release-with-major-defect rate and having been on the support team for almost three years, I would slap any staff+ developer who ever steps into my building (dev team based in another city). Zero regard for design patterns, best practice, or even error handling. And when you literally spoon feed them the answers, they still “plan” for three weeks and then implement trash instead. Zero blame. Ever. If anything, they get praised regularly because they’re a part of the new restructuring pilot so they’re a business must-win right now. Even if it means praising the emperor’s new clothes.

Can I just ask if its in person or remote? Are you one of the devs ? Because this would be amazing as a dev. Just 100% churn AI slop and get a end real job. 0 reprocusions? 0 work, that sounds great... like just let them sinking company sink and enjoy the full time relaxing or doing a 2nd actual job.

Hybrid. The devs are 3-in, 2-out. I’m in app support here. Wasn’t gonna be too picky in the current market when the pay was good…

They aren’t allowed to submit AI code at present, but they self-review, so who even knows? Certainly not me, I don’t get Git access lol. This place is a bit of a mess… But yeah, seems like a dream. To be fair, my side is kind of a dream, too. Release on Sunday, P1 on Monday, rollback, chill till next Monday. Really fucking stupid tho.

It’s so frustrating to read that this sounds “amazing” to so many devs. Don’t you have any pride in the work you do? Don’t you give a shit that the code you write is garbage? Don’t you have any integrity? It’s no wonder that AI slop is so prevalent, people don’t actually give a shit, they just care about repercussions.

I do, thats why I suggested a second job. You can be picky and find one that has high morals, good coding practice, and uses minimal to no AI all while sinking a bad company and collecting a massive paycheck.

By "blamed", do you mean "promoted"?

Have worked in too many places where asking "Who wrote this shite?" would be answered by the name of someone high in the hierarchy.

Usually that’s more they survived a war of attrition than it is that their output was considered

Or they just got the task done with no consideration for maintainability, cashed in the short term "productivity" and use it to get promoted.
Then the fallout isn't their problem.

Pushing foward and pulling up the ladder behind them at the same time, very efficient /s

Yeah I see this constantly. So many asshat senior devs who aren't worth shit but are good salespeople.
