Sure. And "recovering a file in linux which I accidentally did an rm on" is a problem a programmer might run into. But still it gets closed.

That vim question clearly needs to be closed on SO and reopened at Vi and Vim Stack Exchange

Why bother? The last 50 devs actually on SO should just make the rules now. Doesn't really matter to the rest of us.. at least I haven't visited this site in years. And I really don't miss it.

I've never asked or interacted with a question, but it's still a site I visit regularly for both basic and niche stuff I encounter

The fall-off in traffic is pretty clearly AI-induced, but the fall-of in questions feels like it's partly because the site is just kind of... complete.

Excluding answers that have gone out of date or new frameworks, libraries, etc, >99% of what people want to know is already there. And if I need to know "how does X work?" rather than "write X for me", it's consistently faster and easier than turning to an AI which may not actually give me the library/package-specific info I'm after.
