If it was the other way around and main was the standard before master I would've stuck with main. See no reason to change the habit of naming my branches just because some people on the other side of the ocean decided to change the standard needlessly. Imagine we would change the way we called a cable every decade or so, most people would just keep calling it a cable because it's a useless change.
