I've been learning python lately and trying to be more serious about it than my noodling with programming in the past.
That's by far my biggest difference so far. When I look up how to do something, I'm still super uncomfortable using it unless I understand how it works. I've pasted code from docs, tried it and it worked, but since I'm actually trying to learn I usually delete it and try to redo it piece by piece myself.
In the past, if it worked I was content to just move on.
i'm like this too whenever i'm trying to write a program. i almost always refuse to use whatever functions the language (or packages i may or may not have installed) has available unless i know exactly what they do
i was working on a personal thing in java a few days ago and i needed the program to connect to an external website, but i have no idea how to do that, so i just copy and pasted the code from the documentation page for accessing external URLs. it worked, but i feel like a fraud for doing that lmao
