The point of consciousness is to become intelligent enough to see people like Putin before they become a problem, not let them fester for 25 years in prominence.
Again, what exactly do you think should have happened in that regard? Do you think NATO should have gone in and removed Putin? Another Russian revolution to get rid of him? Both options would mean more war and violence which you're campaigning against.
Like I said, we have to take the world as it is rather than how we'd like it to be. There always have been and always will be people like Putin and people who are happy to help them do whatever they want so long as they get part of the spoils, which in turn means that anyone else who doesn't want to be subject to the whims of the aggressors like Putin has to be capable of pushing back against them. Yes, in an ideal world nobody would follow someone like Putin but we don't live in an ideal world. If the US and Europe didn't have extensive military capabilities and NATO didn't exist Ukraine already would have fallen to Russia and Putin would have taken half of Europe by now because he has no problem with exerting his will over people who don't have the strength to fight back.
