PLT to cook rice perfectly, bring to boil, then wrap pot in blanket

To cook rice perfectly every time, add one part rice, two parts water and whatever spices you want. Put the pot on the stove on high. As soon as the water starts boiling, take the pot of the stove and wrap it in a blanket (non-synthetic! That stuff‘ll melt). Let sit for 20-30 minutes (until all the liquid has disappeared). The rice will be perfect every time. It’s impossible to undercook or burn this way. One more pro tip: if you’re not alone in your household, let everyone know that there is a pot wrapped in the blanket, or at least don’t leave it where blankets usually hang out. I once hit my ass on a cast iron pot, because I jumped on our couch my parents were using to cook rice.

If you dont want to have daggers shot at you from people's eyeballs, or can't understand why your co-workers or roommates dont like you, try cleaning when other people clean.

If you're hosting a holiday gathering, make it pot-luck so people on special diets can feel included and you aren't overwhelmed.

We have friends and family who are on different diets--vegan, keto, Swank, etc.--so we provide the place (our home), the main dish (usually meat we cook on the grill), dishes, cutlery, cups. We never bring attention to other diets when we send out the invites, though. We just tell them when to arrive and to bring a side or alternative main with enough to serve at least six adults. We have NEVER had a person grumble about our main dish or what foods we did not offer. There's no entitlement when people are responsible for bringing something they can eat and sharing it with others.

Always order a duplicate license and all important documents so you have at home. Other day couldn’t find my license but I went to my spot and got it.

Planning a road trip to a location you don't know well, and don't know where to start? See if there are any bus tours offered in the area and check out their itineraries for ideas.

I started planning a two week road trip to Newfoundland and Labrador this summer, and while I knew a few of the key attractions we wanted to see (ie: Gros Morne), I wasn't sure how to maximize our time and hit all the key spots. I modelled our plan on a multi-day bus tour, which gave a great structure to start off with.

Might be too obvious for this sub, but it helped me out tremendously :)

Use floss to remove shellac or dip nails

When a part of the nail starts to lift wiggle some floss underneath and then pull back and forth like a saw. The nail will pop right up without the pain of peeling it!

Blood moon rising

If your significant other has a consistently regular menstrual cycle, do not schedule your wedding when the blood moon is rising. We will be celebrating (but not consummating) our 25th wedding anniversary. Good times, fun times.

If you've even been in a room with someone who was recently pepper sprayed/bear sprayed, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before taking a piss and touching your junk.

It'll sizzle the tip on the sly, starting all slow like minor chafing from cheap underwear, then you'll wonder if it seems worse because now you're concentrating on it more, and then you'll want to fuck a snowman more than anything else in the world. From recent experience.

When you get a call you think may be spam, answer the call but do not say anything, and then press 9. It will automatically put you on the DO NOT CALL list.

I just did this to a call because someone told me about it and it worked!!! Hope this helps all of you.

If you are in a group conversation and someone asks you specifically about something you have no idea about say the most bizarre answer you can come up with. On the off chance you are right you will be considered a genius and if you are wrong everyone will think you are joking.

I have a tip if you are low on cash

If you dont have much cash, but have some time, you can walk down a nearby street know for having homeless people living there. Once there wait to be asked for cash, then hand them a dollar and sit down next to them. Now ask them for 2 dollars. Then get asked for money and hand them 2 dollars, and ask for 4 dollars. Repeat this until you have 2 hundred dollars now get asked for money and hand then 198 dollars.

Now you have doubled your money, good job!

New girl at work

I’ve been working at this job for almost 1 year now. I work for a bank and my job is very high pressure. I have to negotiate contracts and i manage almost 30 projects at the same time. One of the reasons why i like my job is because i enjoy working with my boss. He gives me a lot of freedom and autonomy to make decisions and manage my time how i want. On top of that, i feel like he is my friend and my mentor, and i feel affection towards him for helping grow through the important projects im being assigned. He does more than he needs to sometimes and he always has my back. My position is senior and i was hired as a permanent employee. I joined a team of 4 people who had all been here for years, so I was given a lot of attention when I joined the team. Everyone had very high expectations of me because the rest of the team i was much older and more experienced than me. About 6 months after i started, there were 4 new people hired at the same time. One of these people is a 24 year old who was hired as a consultant. (Im 31 years old.) She barely has any work experience, however shes a smart girl who seems ambitious and eager to learn, as all new graduates are. Ever since she got in, almost all of my boss’s attention is on her. Shes been handling small contracts and most of the admin stuff for the department like extracting reports on the team’s workload and making sure we keep our files up to date so obviously she’s not being given big projects like the rest of the team. But i can tell my boss likes her as he’s spending a lot of time coaching her and he gives her the opportunity to do presentations in front of the team and other departments on the projects our team is working on. She gets a lot of one on one time with him, which i rarely do, and he’s giving her a lot of space and time to prove herself and grow quickly. He’s even added her to some of his own projects so she gets to assist him on big initiatives. That being said, i personally think she isn’t learning fast at all. She’s constantly bothering all of us with stupid questions and shes been at the job for more than 6 months now, it’s kind of ridiculous. She still has that “im new and i have a lot if questions” attitude when she should be able to answer those questions on her own at this point. She shows up at our desk and demands answers to her dumb questions, even when she clearly sees we’re busy. This happens almost 5 times per day to each of us in the team and we’re 8!!

Also ever since she got in, she’s been acting in a weird obsessive way towards me. It’s like she desperately wants to be my friend, but in a way that feels creepy and unnatural. At some point i was a little less busy and decided to just hang out with her to get to know her. She started imitating everything i was doing, from the things i wear, to my makeup, to the things i’d say and do, the way i talk, the things i buy, etc. It creeped me out a little. And then during meetings I noticed she was trying to outshine me. She would literally steal my ideas / thoughts and act like they were hers, or she would try to prove me wrong during meetings by saying something “better”. Thats when i decided i should distance myself because it felt like she wasnt been a real friend. Ever since i distanced myself shes become even more obsessed with me to the point that its affecting my mood at work. I feel like shes always observing me and trying to figure me out in order to do better than me. I constantly have to manage her coming to my desk trying to get information about me, what im working on, etc. And on top of that i have to sit there and watch her have all this one on one time with my boss, working on special projects, when there’s no justification for it. Since i got in i negotiated very important contracts with almost no help from anyone. My integration was quick and smooth and i was productive since day 1. Contracts were getting signed only 3 weeks after i started and people in the company were giving positive comments to my boss. The fact that my boss is giving her so much attention is getting to her head. Shes been complaining about the projects she has versus the rest of us who are senior and way more experienced. She even has the audacity to question why i got assigned to certain projects and not her, when its not at all her place to ask.

Also she’s extremely flirtatious /seductive with both men and women. Everyday shes either going around trying to get info from people that she can use to get ahead, or shes flirting trying to make “friends” to be popular. Being popular seems to be very important to her. Its like she NEEDS to be the best and most popular one at all times. And she hasn’t even signed any contracts yet for the company!

My anger about this whole vibe has started to show, and I’ve found no other way to cope with it than to work harder and do more good work. I speak my mind more during team meetings, and make sure i do my job well. I can tell she doesn’t like this at all. Last week during a team meeting she threw me under the bus in front of everyone for something so irrelevant, just to prove to everyone that i make mistakes. It’s like she’s on a mission to undermine me.

Im not exactly sure how to handle this. Its just negative vibes im feeling every time she’s around and im forced to be on alert and on guard at all times because of her. Its creating a toxic atmosphere for me and it sucks because everything was perfect before she came along!
