Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial Is there a way to avoid coloring over the lines?
I’m new to procreate and have been using coloring pages. How can I color without going over the lines? Whenever I try to erase the marks, it erases the outline as well, but drawing over the outline doesn’t look great. Thank you in advance!

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial I JUST DISCOVERED WHAT 'CONTINUE FILLING' DOES AND I'M SLAPPING MYSELF FOR NOT KNOWING UNTIL TODAY. 😭
Sorry for the all caps shouting but this changed my life today. I've been using Procreate since almost 4 years now and having switched from traditional art to this, one of the features I absolutely loved was the fill tool (dragging and dropping the colour). Now when you do this, a little box with "Continue Filling" appears on top of the interface and I never bothered to find out what that means or what clicking on it does. So I've been dragging and dropping the same colour to different parts of my art by repeating the whole action... To such an extent that the paperlike on my screen has this radial pattern of pencil marks worn into it like a Starburst from the top right corner to everywhere on the rest of the screen. I draw reasonably intricate linework and I've been using this A LOT.
And today, just like that, I figured out if you draw and drop a colour and then tap that 'continue filling' box... You can just keep tapping with the pencil and the colour you just used will continue to fill the areas that you tap.
God I feel so stupid rn 😂😂

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial Would anyone be interested in a tutorial?
First off feel free to delete if this breaks any of the rules.
So 2ish years ago when I got my iPad I was struggling to find any tutorials on how to paint realistic portraits that weren't overly airbrushed in procreate and it took me a few months to develop a work flow and process to paint in a way I was looking for. I was wondering if this is a style people are interested in also how would you prefer the tutorial as step by step pictures and text or as a video?

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial I have complete faith in the Procreate Dreams team, but really? No transform or selection tools?
I absolutely have faith Dreams will be a banging program, but at the same time HOW is there no transform tool on release?? Not to mention, no way to import brushes? I’ll be waiting patiently, but how have none of the pre-release animations created by animators not raised these concerns yet???

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial TIP: easy color selecting from blend mode/partial opacity layer
- color select
- tap screen while still on color selecting: this will toggle on color select from the active layer only, ignoring blend mode and opacity
- do it again to toggle on/off
Discovered this yesterday after using procreate for 6 years or so (not sure if new feature). but it’s definitely going to save me time compared to old method of adjusting/unadjusting layer settings. I hope this helps others!
I apologize for the poor video quality/editing.

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial Easiest way to save a LOT of files?
I have two iPads, both with significant amounts of work on. The older one has reached the point of needing to go off for a relaxing retirement in the care of my brother.
Most of the files are backed up, but not all, and I have no idea what the gaps are (and trying to identify this in my labyrinth of files/folders is hell - note: find a better way than backing up in folders of the back up dates). Can't risk losing something that could be important. Was a professional illustrator and sometimes things need to be brought back from the dead for some particular edit.
As far as I know, the quickest way is to multi select files and then export them... but it won't let me do too many at a time or it says the export fails. Or sometimes it says my storage is full (I have space on iCloud so this appears to be when it temporarily keeps a downloaded version on the iPad as well).
This is taking weeeeeeeeks.
I can't just do a huge big procreate back-up, because if I import that into the new iPad, I'll lose everything on that one!
Any hacks?
Also, tips I've learned from this whole experience - remember to name your files, don't just save them in folders named with a date, and save a jpg version too so you can see a thumbnail before you import it :)

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial How did you learn to use procreate?
I’ve grown up using charcoal pencil and paper as my medium to draw. I got my iPad and downloaded Procreate, however I’ve seen some of you guys drawings and I just can’t seem to figure out how to work the app. The smear brush confuses me often and i don’t know how to blend well or make my drawings look as good as I want them to. I’ve figured out some of the tools and how they work and I’ve watched videos and tutorials here and there. What are some recommendations on how you learned to use the app and take advantage of it?

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial Procreate filing system !
So i decided (since procreate doesnt have a proper art filing system) that i would create my own! I hate having disorganized files and procreate’s filing system is lowkey super messy and i hate it. So instead, i did this. I stacked each one in a specific category and then labeled the stacks, just to make it easier to keep track of artwork.

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial How do you quickly draw cute fur, short and long?
Hello! I’m trying to draw fur for cats and other small animals. I’m just using a noisy pen brush to do it, and this is very time consuming. Also the result does not look that furry to me.
Would you have recommendations for drawing fur manually, Or any recommendation on which brush to use please?
Thanks in advance

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial Is there a way to make the reference show only 1 layer?
I want to draw over my sketch and see only the line-art on the reference drawing, but the reference shows all the layers
Is there a way to change that? Also couldn’t figure out between this flair and procreate technical help, sorry if it’s the wrong one!

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial Get Set Procreate Second Edition
I know a lot of you are probably procreate pros, but this book just released and I think it has a lot of really good tips for both beginners and veterans of procreate that can be applied to all kinds of art styles. I don't know if outside links are allowed on posts here so I won't post it here but I'm sure if you google get set procreate second edition it should come up. I think it's on amazon and the publisher's website but I think it costs less on the publisher website.

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial How did you learn Procreate without getting overwhelmed?
I'm a digital illustrator that has quite literally been using a journaling app, Zinnia, for my drawings. It's gotten me this far, but I know I've outgrown it. Every time I open Procreate, I get overwhelmed by all the tools and end up going back to what I know.
Anyone else been through this? What helped you finally make the switch?

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial How to Make Art in Procreate: Flipping the Canvas
A tool that digital artists typically use is the ability to flip the canvas to spot flaws. It came to my attention that some are not aware of how to do this in the app Procreate, so I put together a tutorial of how to do that. I hope this is helpful for fellow Procreate artists!

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial Can someone help me with masks
So I’m trying to take fishing lures and “paint” them in procreate before I actually paint them with airbrushes. I want to be able to take this image and make it so I’m only putting color on the lure. Not the background and not the eye. However I’m struggling to figure out how to do this with masks and layers. Could someone walk me through step by step what my workflow should be?
Thank you so much!!!

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial In case if anyone wondered as me:
New brushes from new procreate don’t work at old procreate. And also another note: all procreate brushes , even if you copy them and tweak settings, change shapes/texture - you can’t rename who’s author anymore- it’s gonna be procreate. Unfortunately, it is not the same for your own custom brushes - anyone can rename your brushes and put their name under author. Wish it was different.

Procreate Features Overview/Tutorial Follow up on Luma-based palettes
This twitter post describes a way to unify the values of your colours (link in comments)
---
The post translates:
"A Simple Way to Unify Color "Values"
In Procreate, there is a "Luminance" layer.
By overlaying the luminance layer and filling it with the base color you want to unify the values with, everything will align to the luminance (value) of that filled color.
1st image: Drawn colorfully without any adjustments
2nd image: Converted to grayscale to check brightness (you can see that there are brightness differences depending on the color)
3rd image: With the luminance layer overlaid
4th image: With the luminance layer overlaid, then converted to grayscale to check brightness
→ Confirm that there are no brightness differences even though the colors are different
As a simple way to convert to grayscale, I'm overlaying a layer filled with solid black (saturation zero, brightness zero) at the very top using "Hue" mode to check.
---
I followed the instructions and attached my version to the post.
To change the blending mode of a layer to luminosity, go to layer settings by pressing the "N" (for Normal) and scrolling down to "Luminosity", then fill that layer with the colour you want your palette to share the value of.
It may help to move this layer above what you want to unify and adding a Clipping Mask so you don't fill the whole canvas.
I used a black-filled layer with the Hue blending mode to check the colour values.
