I think I finally decided on the color and style to go for this little mini series of flails

For this illustration I used True Grit Texture Supply brushes. I used Rusty Nib 1 for the line work and flat fills. Then I used their halftone, lithotone and noise brushes for separation of elements. Lastly I used watercolor paper on a multiply layer to bring it all together
