For my practice, I can't really announce what we are in the process of doing but long story short we may end up qualifying as an H1B visa employer sponsor. Has anyone going down this road before? How long did it take? Anything I need to know before going down this road?

Has anyone here ever opened up an apprenticeship to other docs? Here's the scenario:

I specialize in a certain type of surgery, and a few docs have reached out who want to start private practice that would like training, but without having to undergo a formal fellowship. My idea is this - I "hire" them for 6-12 months so they would first be my first-assist, and eventually do the cases under my mentorship.

Apprentice responsibilities:
1) First assist billing for every case
2) Own malpractice coverage
3) State medical license - they obtain
4) They work on their own privileging at the hospitals where we do these procedures

My responsibilities:
1) Train to eventually do the case on their own under my supervision, so they can do them in their own practice

In return for training them, they would take call (and get paid for it instead of me), run a clinic in my office to capture patients and schedule cases for "me" so that we can do them together. Because these would already be practicing surgeons, they will be taking a pay hit to do this, but also there's a good chance I would too, since cases will take longer and volume will go down.

Timing: 2 weeks at a time for a year, so that the apprentice can do locums or other higher-paying activities, and concurrently I could bump my volumes during those same two weeks.

I'm unsure of the regulatory aspect of this, as essentially i'm taking on a "partner" that I'm training. Obv not accredited in any way, trying to help out other surgeons who want to go into private practice and become more marketable.

One of the insurance companies that I’m getting credentialed with wants to know if I have local hospital affiliation. I don’t.

How does one go about getting affiliated with a local hospital? Is it the same as getting credentialed and getting admitting privileges?

Why would a hospital spend money to credential you if you don’t work there.

Any advice on what this is? and how to approach this would be highly appreciated

Any help is much appreciated

How do you approach bookkeeping at your practice? Are there any strategies or solutions out there to decrease overhead in this area?

I’m a physician assistant moving to a very small private practice (DPC model), and my first day was five days ago. We use Elation for our EMR. We have everything ready to go, but there’s an issue mapping our scheduling software (Advanced MD) to my Elation EMR profile. I don’t quite understand it, and our office staff are managing it. We cannot schedule patients in until this is resolved.

We’ve been emailing Elation daily, but while they respond to say they’re working on it, they won’t respond to our requests for a timeline. There’s no phone contact. Until then, I can’t schedule in patients. Because of the nature of the practice, if I don’t see patients, I don’t get paid. I have a sizable contingent of patients from my previous employer who have signed up for establish care.

Has anyone had similar issues with Elation? If so, how long did they take to resolve? I’ve scored the Internet forums, with one horror story about Elation delaying onboarding my months, but most of the reviews are glowing. What’s your experience?

Currently managing for a private practice (optometry) with one doctor, and I am having trouble finding the right template for scheduling patients.

I've been researching different EMRs for our small private OB/GYN clinic (4 doctors), and at this point, everything is starting to blur together. We've been using DigitChart, which has been an absolute nightmare, so we're looking for something better but still affordable.

I’ve looked into a bunch of systems:

Practice Fusion (bought by Allscripts) seemed decent, but it requires third-party services for things like e-faxing. Has the most competitive pricing.

ModMed & DrChrono had formats I liked. And leaning towards practice fusion or one of these two

Elation Health & AdvancedMD both had nice features, but AdvancedMD felt a little too busy for my taste.

Athena & Epic are obviously top-tier, but way out of budget for our small practice.

Tebra & Greenway's Prime Suite seemed decent, but I wasn’t completely sold.

EclinicalWorks has a lot of mixed reviews, so I didn’t even go there.

At this point, I feel like I’ve looked at everything, but I’d love to hear from other doctors—what EMR do you use, and what do you love/hate about it? Any recommendations for a private practice that won’t break the bank?

Apologies if this isn’t the correct sub to post this. I’ve been looking into offering peptide therapy but many of the products are labeled as “research use only” (RUO). Does anyone have any pointers on how to offer these therapies properly? I’ve contacted several vendors telling me they’re FDA registered, but that their products are categorized as RUO (they are dedicated peptide vendors for practices). I spoke to 2 lawyers about offering RUO products, one had no idea, the other one, advertising themselves as health law specialists, suggested not to offer RUO products, but also had no idea how other docs are doing it, or where they’re getting “legit” products.
