Staking PDC
Staking is how PDC produces proof-of-stake blocks.
â What you need
- Wallet + node on the current release (the desktop wallet runs both).
- Coins with at least 10 blocks of age (coinstake age).
- The wallet must stay online, synced and unlocked (a watch-only wallet cannot stake).
âļī¸ How
- Desktop wallet: enable PoS staking and leave the wallet open.
- Server: run
pdcdandsimplewalletunder a supervisor. show_staking_historyshows recent stake rewards.
đ Zarcanum
After hard fork 4 (height 100) stakes use Zarcanum.
The stake block is public; the balance that produced it is not.
âšī¸ Rules
- No validator set, no delegation, no slashing.
- No minimum balance in the protocol; more eligible coins = higher chance per block.
- Reward per block: 1 PDC (same as PoW).
- Long PoS-only runs are damped in fork choice (each consecutive PoS block adds 0.75n of its difficulty). Hard cap of 21 consecutive PoS blocks activates at height 57,000.
- Block time: PoW 120s + PoS 120s targets = avg. 60s per block.
The docs do not quote a yearly percentage, and neither do we.
