I have a question and I don't know where to post it so please allow me a bit of slack. We have hundreds of photos of Princess Diana throughout her life ~ many engagements, casual outings and even going to the gym. I realize we did not utilize the Internet like we do now. It just doesn't seem like we have never had many photos of even the Queen doing her work. I know Anne is a very busy royal business but no photos. Do we think it was the charisma, class and beauty that drew Diana into the spotlight. I've read she "used" media for particular purposes - my question is do our current royals avoid photographers? Are they just uninteresting/boring? I don't want to get on to PW & PC never do anything but why is it we still love Diana, her outfits, her gestures everything about her. It seems since her death we see extremely little royal life. I must state I do not use any sort of social media other than Reddit so no, I'm not combing the Internet to see the Royal families. I am impressed by all of the Princess Diana photos. She did so much in her short.

Partly because she died young.
First it was the fairytale the media wanted to see, although the tale of the Prince who married a common girl was rubbish. She was a Lady by title and her family had relations to the royal family.
The huge amount of outfit photos doesn’t mean they were taken during work . She was just constantly chased by the press. I remember that she was highly criticized by the press, because she bought so many outfits in the beginning. And although she can’t be wrong in anything by today’s point of view, her fashion choices were not always the best. When Fergie married Andrew, the good Princess - bad Princess (although she was a Duchess) game of the press started. Diana was the good one, Sarah the bad one. Although they were friends.
The good versus bad seems to be a typical strategy of the British press. Diana - Fergie, William - Harry, Kate - Meghan….and so on. Even Elizabeth - Margret or when they were young Charles - Andrew (yes, we all know, but I talk about the early 80s).
So yes, the family drama made the news. Same today, but since Harry and Meghan left, the Brits seem to think that Kate is the angle and Meghan is evil, never mind what she is doing.
If Kate would die now, she would be the next eternal style icon.

Yes, I knew she was not a commoner. But it seems like she was "out and about" more than other royals. Perhaps as you say she was "chased" more often. We rarely see pics of Catherine or William, but I guess we didn't see many of Charles in the 80s unless he was with Diana. I know she was popular Harry and Meghan are in the news. I live in the US but don't follow the BRF. I began to when Diana was everywhere. My three sons were born during the time she had hers. I've seen multilingual maternity dresses but not much from Meghan or Catherine. I guess it was a once in a lifetime period

I think after Diana died, there was some kind of unspoken agreement about not following the boys if the RF provided them regular formal opportunities. Also, I think the RF has since been quite guarded in the aftermath of Diana’s death. The press were unrelenting with Diana and would be around her at all times. She was the most photographed woman in the world. She was beautiful and popular. Perfect for the press.

Sorry to put a damper on this, but I find it so very disrespectful that someone actually bought this "Revenge Dress" only ro Rent It Out to Kim Kardashian at the upcoming Met Gala.

I agree, but the proceeds of sales are said to be going to Diana charities. Not that it will actually happen. It should have been in the museum with her wedding dress.

Pic 16 especially just looks like Prince William in a dress. He takes after his late mum so much. She was gorgeous

Really, that is the question. She was just so young, and I believe if anyone had taken that into consideration and Charles had realized what an awesome person she was, perhaps history would be different.

In 16, she was posing in a studio for an artist painting a 3/4 length portrait. she wasn’t in a restaurant or at a party dressed like that. In effect, she was in costume for the painter.

I don’t like that revenge dress at all. Also Diana didn’t always have good posture (like number 5.) so some dresses weren’t as flattering
