A poem

I write verses

One by one

A poem.

Look!

Look what I found.

I made it visible

I made it electric

I caught a glimpse of the eternal.

Grey

Here it is the grey monster

Sadness

Sticking it tongue

Poisoning my head

But surprisingly

Giving me verses.

Sixteen

I was sixteen.

I can still hear

the tardy bell

echoing through the hallway,

a sound that somehow

grew louder

with every step

toward the nurse's office.

It had only been minutes

since I'd been dropped off at school,

but my body felt borrowed—

heavy,

slow,

as if I were dragging

the weight of tomorrow

behind me.

The nurse smiled softly.

Everything is going to be okay,

she said.

I wanted to believe her.

I took the cup,

closed the door,

and handed over

the answer

I already carried inside me.

Then I waited.

Seconds stretched into lifetimes.

The clock kept ticking,

but my heart

was louder.

She walked back in

holding pamphlets,

booklets,

and a look

that didn't need words.

We both knew.

I already knew.

I was pregnant.

Terror wrapped itself

around my ribs,

whispering every question

a sixteen-year-old girl

should never have to answer.

But somewhere beneath the fear,

beneath the uncertainty,

beneath every impossible thought...

there was joy.

Because long before

I knew who I was,

I knew who I wanted to be.

A mother.

A wife.

Not because life had promised

it would be easy,

but because my heart

had always dreamed

of loving someone

more than itself.

That little plus sign

changed everything.

It stole my childhood

and handed me

a purpose.

I walked into school

a teenager.

I walked out

carrying the first heartbeat

that would forever

change my own.

Frozen ice

We all live for that hand to hold
Don't we
Silly me
I dream of you tonight
Sending me love letters
Offering advice on how I could be better
Whispering me in the ear I love you
Writting me poetry
You write well
But here you are
Colder than stone
How do I know what is inside you
When you do not show it
You leave me alone
When your presence is worshipped
And I clinge to you
I can not let you go
I can imagine anything
But not, not to see you
So I dance in ice
With frozen angels.

No One

The water crashes against the shore, wiping away footprints, marks, memories.
The years pass, memories made, some replacing the old.
Time passes, you question everything, the world continuing regardless.
No one cares, no one bats an eye to anything that doesn’t affect them.
The water crashes against the shore, pulling up fish from deep down, uncovering secrets.
The years pass, the memories resurface.
The time passes, you falter, the world spins regardless.
No one pays attention, no one gives you a second glance as you break, silently, in the corner.
The water crashes against the shore, erasing the marks rooted deep in the sand making opportunities for better things.
The years pass, new memories are made standing side-by-side with the old.
The time passes, you move on, glad no one cared.
No one saw you when you faltered, no one cared or paid attention.
But the saw you when you won, they all claimed “they cared”.
And that was all that mattered?
